Bush and beach walks, fishing on the mussel farms, local shops showcasing local artists and zip lining at the Driving Creek Railway. The local School of Mines and Historical Museum is a great place to visit to learn about the area’s historical past and about how it was once a bustling gold mining town and logging area. There are several beautiful beaches and walks dotted across the peninsula including Long Bay bush and beach walks and Waitete Bay, 25 minutes north. Whangapoua, New Chums Beach and Kuaotunu are also a 30 minute drive over the hill. A weekend here, simply isn’t long enough!
