Explore Ferries run between Auckland and Te Kouma (Hannafords Wharf) A 5 minute walk to the bottom of the road offers the quiet, family friendly Heards Bay which is lovely swimming at high tide and safe for the whole family. Fishing in the Hauraki Gulf is the icing on the cake. Bring your own boat or book ahead and secure your places on a local charter. Also within walking distance is the recreational all-tide boat ramp "Sugar-Loaf". Daily permits available onsite or season permits available from the local GAS service station. Coromandel township is only 10 minute drive up the road and offers a range of cafes, a GP ,pharmacy, gift shops, tackle stores, Liquor store, a very well stocked Four Square and 3 petrol Stations/fuel stops. Get your fish filleted and vacuum packed locally at Salty Towers or visit Coromandel Smoking Co to have your catch smoked. Great fishing in the Hauraki Gulf! Boats welcome! Can be parked (and washed down) on the steepish driveway or feel free to park on the grass at the base of the driveway (See photo).
