An outdoor lover’s paradise with pristine bush, fresh water streams and a wonderful array of native flora and fauna the other major attraction is the beach and FISHING and all things aquatic. Boats are launched from the white sandy beach and fisherman of all elks try their luck either in the bay itself or venture further out into the Pacific or over to Great Mercury Island. Other popular nautical pursuits include surf casting, diving, snorkeling, kayaking, shellfish collecting, swimming, beachcombing or just taking a meander on the beach. Local Area Information A relatively undiscovered area of the Coromandel, Kennedy Bay is laid back and non-commercial - like the Coromandel used be before areas such as Pauanui sprung up and without the crowds! It is approximately 20kms North-East of Coromandel. An excellent base for exploring the northern region of the Peninsula - Tuateawa, Little and Waikawau Bays, Port Charles. No shops in Kennedy Bay - last stop for petrol and provisions in Coromandel Town. Kennedy Bay is approximately 15 kms from Coromandel Town via Driving Creek Road. The road over the hill is unsealed, windy and well maintained and care should be taken.
