PITOKUKU HOUSE: SPACE FOR THE WHOLE CREW Pitokuku is the largest of the three houses at 175° East, sleeping up to 10 across the main house and a separate two-bedroom cabin. It suits two families, extended families or groups who want to stay together without living on top of one another. Built in 2021, the north-facing house looks across native bush towards the ocean, Sugarloaf and Pitokuku Island. Floor-to-ceiling windows fill the open-plan living area with sun, while timber floors and wide decks give everyone room to spread out. The nook inside the main house is a good place to read or retreat from the crowd. LOCATION Pitokuku sits on a private native-bush estate at Medlands Beach. The beach is a short walk away, with Aotea Brewing and Aotea Roast around five minutes away on foot. You get privacy, sea views and dark skies without being cut off from the useful local spots. Great Barrier Island is completely off-grid and is recognised as an International Dark Sky Sanctuary. Pitokuku combines solar power and rainwater with a proper kitchen, hot showers and reliable Starlink. The wood burner and covered outdoor fire make it just as inviting in winter as it is in summer.
