About this Holiday House
Perched among mature kanuka and manuka, the Tree House is exactly what it sounds like — a home in the trees. Floor-to-ceiling views look out through the canopy, across the organic garden, and over the Pacific Ocean to the horizon.
The main house and bunkhouse are two separate buildings connected by a bridge through the treetops. The main house has a queen bedroom, full kitchen with Nespresso machine, and a living area that opens onto a wraparound deck. The bathroom features a cast iron bath with views straight into the canopy — one of those baths you don't rush.
Cross the bridge to the bunkhouse: a queen bedroom plus four bunks, perfect for families or groups of up to eight.
When the sun's up, sling into a hammock strung beneath the deck where the air stays cool. When it goes down, you're a five-minute bush walk to Medlands Beach — arguably the best beach on Great Barrier Island.
The Tree House is fully off-grid and solar-powered, with WiFi, Sonos sound system, and a microwave — serious creature comforts for a place that generates its own power. One of three private retreats on the 175° East property, connected by scenic bush trails.
