Floor-to-ceiling windows look through the canopy, across the garden and towards the Pacific Ocean. The main house and separate bunkhouse are connected by a bridge in the treetops. It is a brilliant setup for families: adults can have the main house while children take over the bunkhouse, without anyone being far away. Open it towards the trees, settle in and take your time. This is not a bath designed for efficient people. Across the bridge, the bunkhouse gives children or another part of the group their own space and deck. Beneath the main deck, hammocks provide a cool place to disappear with a book when the sun is high. LOCATION Tree House sits in the upper part of the private 175° East estate at Medlands Beach. The beach is a short walk away, while Aotea Brewing and Aotea Roast are around five minutes away on foot. Great Barrier Island is completely off-grid and is recognised as an International Dark Sky Sanctuary. Tree House combines solar power and rainwater collection with a proper kitchen, hot shower, microwave and reliable Starlink. The wood burner keeps the house comfortable through winter.
