About this Holiday House

Set amongst a level established garden of mature Kentia and Nikau palms yet just a 3 minute walk to the beautiful white sand, surf beach of Medland's Beach. The home is well appointed with full gas oven and cook top, electric fridge/freezer, TV, and Wifi. All kitchen equipment is supplied as is duvets and pillows. We would prefer that you bring your own sheets and towels to take home and launder as we rely on tank water, however, we do have linen available to hire at a small charge per person per stay. Power is supplied by a solar power system.

Great Barrier has limited cell phone coverage and with Medland's having limited Vodafone & Spark. As we are off grid for power and water we do ask that you are mindful of your usage. For this reason we ask that you do not bring or use toasters, electric kettles, hair straighteners, sandwich makers or other high use electric appliances. Please ask if you have any concerns.

Special Attractions and Activities Nearby

Swim, walk or play on the white sand beach just over the dunes, or bring your boat and car and fish from either side of the island. As Medland's Beach is a sand launch a 4x4 vehicle is required. There are small shops, cafes and restaurants on the Barrier but these are not situated in the Medland Valley. Claris is a 5km, 10 minute drive and Tryphena a 8 km, 15 minute drive away.

Lovely house. Really loved our time there. Came over for a wedding at Aotea Brewery so location to beautiful Medlands beach and brewery was perfect. Loved watching Kaka and Wood Pigeons in the guava tree . A lovely piece of paradise. Live to come back. House was awesome thanks Lynda.

A lovely home which was well equipped and very clean located close to a beautiful swimming beach. There is also a lovely outdoor BBQ area and garden. Hosts were great and very accommodating. Would highly recommend this house for a family holiday

Peak season is Christmas to Waitangi Day, and Easter. Easter is a set rate even with date variations and may include school holidays.
Rates: Peak season 26 Dec to 6 February requires full payment by 1 November. Should you cancel after this date we can only refund if we are able to re-book the property. This is mainly due to the short notice as it gets near impossible for other guests to make travel bookings to and from the Island from then on.
Bookings will incur a $150.00 cleaning fee.

Suitable for couples or a family, maximum of 4 people. NO groups. NO SMOKING in or near any buildings and on the property.

Rates: A deposit of 50% is required at the time of booking to confirm your reservation.
Full payment is due 28 days before arrival. If you cancel your reservation 28 days before arrival, 50% of your deposit will be charged. If you cancel your reservation 7 days or less before arrival 100% of your deposit will be charged. No shows are also charged 100% of the deposit.
There will be no refund of nights or linen charge for extra guests who cancel 7 days or less before check-in.
A booking service charge of $75 applies to all cancellation refunds.
