About this Holiday House

- Set amongst native bush with good privacy - Characterful Cottage - Bush and mountain views Set back from the road on the Lake Peninsular, this older, more basic style cottage is so private that it requires you to weave through the surrounding native bush to get to the door. This house is a classic example of 1970s NZ architecture and it is set on a number of levels, with the living and kitchen areas set around a big log burner. A proper original bach, it is a place to relax and recharge. Approx 10 minutes walk to Lake Rotoiti and approx 10 minutes drive to St. Arnaud Village Store. Special conditions: Not recommended for small children (steep staircase). No pets. Smoking outside only (please dispose of butts thoughtfully). This property relies on rain water for its water supply. Please conserve water especially in dry periods. Thanks. Really enjoyed this bach - warm and comfy on a chilly night. Don't forget your toilet paper :)

What a perfect getaway! Diks cottage has everything you need. Lovely and clean, great views, and a nice walk to the lake. I would recommend taking extra blankets in winter as it was pretty cold. Sleeping in the loft was toasty but the bunkroom would be very cold even w the little heater. Thank you. We would definitely stay again😊

There was a power outage while we were in St Arnaud (affecting 1200 houses) so we weren't able to cook, have a shower, or flush the toilet at the house (no water available) until the following morning (which was quite frustrating after coming out of a 5-day tramp in Nelson Lakes NP!). The lounge was comfortable and the outlook of the native forest and mountains was lovely, but the two bedrooms (not 3 bedrooms as advertised) were very small and the layout a bit awkward. The mezzanine floor was neat but is not very suitable for children as the guard rail is not very high (risk of falling) and it is above the lounge. We couldn't find any duvet for the double bed, and the blankets provided were very old and stained.
