About this Holiday House

“Howickcroft” has been our family holiday escape for over 55 years, and is filled with shared treasured memories from our childhood generation (6 siblings and our parents) to the present. During our stays at the Lake, we have enjoyed the traditional kiwi escape, and embraced the calmness, charm and rejuvenating life of nature, away from the crowded scene of the town. The Bach is a five minute’s walk to the edge of the lake, along the way you can enjoy and watch the fast flowing Gowan River, known for its challenging trout fishing spots. Our warm and homely place is old, but it still stands the strength, and test of time. It is comfortable and friendly offering Kiwi Bach comfort, never the less we choose to maintain the experience of living a rural natural life. The Bach is 10.88km off from the main road, this distance makes mobile and internet signal unavailable. Sand flies are buzzing around during dull, overcast and humid condition, so don’t forget to have a sand fly repellent. A minimum of 2 Nights stay and at least 4 days advance notice for reservation please. ... Thank you

This is such a warm, cosy wee bach well equipped with everything you could need or want. Amazing retro/vintage decor and great family history. We had a lovely 3 night stay. It’s an easy 40min drive to St Arnaud or Murchison, plus easy walking distance to some beautiful walks by lake Rotoroa. Lovely owners, we’d definitely stay again thanks 😊
