About this Holiday House

Welcome to Taumata Maruapo (Resting Place of Dreams). A large 1990's build family holiday home that holds a special place in the hearts of those who stay from a night to a week. A peaceful sanctuary nestled in amongst 50 hectares of sub-alpine beech forest. A two-storey wooden home with a covered wrap-around verandah on three sides. Two bathrooms - upstairs toilet and shower, and downstairs toilet and bath. Open chimney log burner which heats the entire space and firewood supplied for those cold winter nights and for keeping the family warm. Washing machine, dryer, microwave, oven/stove, hot-water, and clean fresh and filtered alpine rainwater for the house's water supply. The property is forest-clad, surrounded by sub-alpine native beech forest, with wonderful bird life and adjacent to Nelson Lakes National Park (and Lake Rotoiti) and significant conservation and recreation areas. A private and easily accessible creek (via two walking tracks) is located just 50m from the house for quiet reflection or a VERY crisp dip (for those brave enough!!). Located 7km from St Arnaud Village (and Lake Rotoiti - Kerr Bay), 50 minutes to Nelson, one hour to Blenheim, 25 minutes to Rainbow Valley Skifield.

Place was big.Clean and well equipped.About 7ks to lake and shop.A few mice running around. But to be expected by the bush area.Lots of firewood, which was needed as nights were cold.Very peaceful spot.
What a beautiful spot! We had a fabulous stay, house was clean, warm and extremely functional for a large group (we had 11 of us). Would highly recommend if your wanting a weekend away with friends and family or extended stay, plenty to do and lots of room.

Lovely space to hang out with family or friends. Everything you need. Warm all over the house with the fire going. Few wine glasses wouldn't go a miss but I guess people have broken them or something so take your own if you appreciate a glass. It's what a bach should be like; not fancy but welcoming and like being at home. Lovely to have games to play but if you want music, take your own set up as CD player was temperamental. Just a lovely lovely weekend away and I would thoroughly recommend.
