It’s only suitable for young surfers, it’s not 2 bathrooms!
This might be my favourite beach holiday spot in NZ. The location straight across the road from a stunning beach and views straight up to the iconic lighthouse are the main attractions, of course. But this bach is a beaut - quirky and authentic. My sister and I loved having quite separate bedrooms with reasonable beds. There are plenty of single beds too, if you have a family or group. The lounge-dining room has ample comfortable furniture to relax and gaze at the ever-changing view. We will definitely be back!
An authentic kiwi bach, family friendly and centrally located between the beach and the store. Be lulled to sleep by the roar of the waves and there was plenty of activity on the beach and water that you could be entertained all day. The various moods of the sea and sky left plenty of great photography options. There was lots of wildlife nearby - we managed to see lots of seals around in the water as well as on the rocks at the southern end of the lagoon, crabs under the rocks there at low tide and of course sea life. Remember to bring hand and bathroom soap and we found having a hand towel for the wash basin as well as tea towels was helpful. There was plenty of warm bedding and it was not a problem to bring linen. Oven and BBQ worked well. There are two bathrooms, the second a wet room between the back bedroom and the rest of the house. This was handy for getting sand off people who had been to the beach or those who went snorkelling. If you are lucky and catch sea creatures there was an outside sink to handle cleaning them etc. The water heater cupboard was great for drying things on a rainy day. The undoubted highlight was the wonderful picture window looking out to the sea view and passing traffic. It was a pleasure to stay.
