We spent a week in this lovely cosy traditional cottage - we felt like settlers with all comforts. We loved the wooden floors and shelving, the veranda with its views of the bay and visits from cheeky kaka. The path to the cottage through the bush like approach makes it feel very private and special. We woke up to bird song which continued through the day with a pair of tui regularly visiting. And I saw a kiwi very briefly as it wandered from our garden to next door's garden Just magical. Best part of a wonderful month in NZ.

The bach was just perfect for our break: cosy, warm, comfy bed, lots of hot water, sunny and surrounded by bird life. Diane was very helpful with our booking, met us and set us up in the house. She went the extra mile in dropping us off at the start of the Rakiura Track, saving us walking time. In seven days on the Island we only had 5 minutes of light rain- a beautiful place.

An enchanted spot to pause at during a hectic tour of NZ. Reading the early chapters of the Sansom book made the walk to Ackers Point very interesting. Delicious dinner at Church Hill - you must book.

Pilgrim Cottage was the perfect base for a few amazing days on Stewart Island. Could not have a bed for a more wonderful place.
