I wish I could give this 0 but 1 star is the lowest. The place doesn't look anything like the photos here. It is at the top of a steep driveway and there is construction all around. The outdoor furniture is broken and there is only a roof view not a harbour view. The small deck off the kitchen where you can see part of the harbour is dirty. There is a hole in the bedroom door. There are cobwebs everywhere. Dirty dishes were put back in the cupboard. Rubbish bins and Re-cycle bins are almost over-flowing. The BBQ hadn't been cleaned. The windows were dirty. The entire house needs a thorough deep clean both inside and out. There was no hair dryer provided as stated in the amenities listed. There was no coffee, no milk, the kettle leaked, there wasn't even salt and pepper. The TV didn't work. We had to beg for a repairman to come. Finally he arrived 3 days later and said the trees were so overgrown that the satellite dish was being compromised, so the signal couldn't get through. A professional would need to be hired to cut them back. I attempted to contact the owner right at the beginning of our stay but I had to go through Christchurch Holiday Homes and they refused to provide any contact details. I took photographs of many of the problems and examples of the dirty house and sent them to Christchurch Holiday Homes. But I was told they were busy over the summer and they were sorry the house didn't live up to our expectations. That's like going to a cafe, paying for your meal, then told sorry we're busy, your food will stink, and you have to eat the bad food. Being busy is not an excuse for the total disrepair of this house! I also resent the implication that it was my fault because my expectations were too high. This place would not live up to anyone's expectations! We have travelled all over NZ for many, many years and have stayed in many, many different holiday homes. For the money we paid for this house, this the the worst place we've ever rented. Avoid!!!
