About this Holiday House

The wonderful 'Wai Ngaio Retreat' with it's ever changing Pacific Ocean views is a large cottage set back in the hill, about 3 kms from the isolated beach settlement of Otahome, on the East Coast of the Wairarapa. The retreat is situated on the Southern most part of Castlepoint Station. Otahome is situated mid way between the beach resorts of Riversdale and Castlepoint and is a 45 minute drive from Masterton (the last 7kms is on a metal road). The retreat is an ex hunting and fishing lodge that has been substantially refurbished to provide excellent accommodation for up to 20 persons and is furnished to a high standard with mod cons, including dish washer and disabled shower room. The ideal cottage for large groups of friends or families or corporate/business bookings. Here you have the beach almost to yourselves, it is approx 5 kms away by metal/gravel road, only a few minutes drive. Enjoy walks along the beach, rock pools or lagoons. You can fish from the beach, but it is not a swimming beach. Watch out for seals and even pick paua off the rocks at low tide! Wai Ngaio Retreat has 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a large open plan living, dining area with separate kitchen. All beds and bunks are king singles and have mattress and pillow protectors as well as fitted bottom sheets and pillow cases. BYO sleeping bag or duvet and towels. The retreat has good disabled facilities with a ramp access and a disabled bathroom. Not forgetting the huge flat screen TV/DVD with 'Freeview' for your entertainment. Private and peaceful, this is the perfect place for large family or friends groups to get together for some fun on the Wairarapa Coast.

Janet
This is an excellent retreat for a big group of friends . Very helpful manager who communicated well with me. Well equipped, beds very comfortable. Lots of firewood and a nice big fire. We enjoyed long beach walks both north and south. You need to drive (or bicycle) down to the coast as it is 4-5km which was the only disadvantage for us.. If you really need to use your phone while having a break away, there is very good Spark coverage at the property.
