Guests can enjoy a range of special amenities, including private access to the Akatarawa River, exclusive front and rear courtyards, and over four acres of land to explore. A small flock of sheep roam the paddocks, and guests are welcome to interact with them using the feed provided. On arrival, complimentary fresh milk, coffee, tea, and eggs from our resident chickens are provided to help you settle in.

Special Attractions and Activities Nearby

Nearby attractions include Staglands Wildlife Park and local blueberry farms, both offering relaxed outdoor experiences close to the valley. Birchville Dam is also nearby, ideal for a scenic walk or a quiet moment in nature. An 8 minute drive brings you into Upper Hutt, home to Brewtown, a popular spot for craft breweries, dining, and entertainment. For a day trip, Martinborough is around a 40 minute drive, known for its renowned wineries and relaxed village atmosphere.

We stayed at Eirene Retreat for 4 nights, and had a great stay. Clean and modern, nice hosts who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Great to relax in the spa in the evening looking up at the stars in the country setting, with lovely bush nearby. There is a nice swimming area in the Akatarewa river just a short walk away, and our hosts also let us pick fruit from their orchard and say hello to the sheep, which our kids really enjoyed.

This is a great place to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. Beautifully clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the privacy of the house, court yard and spa pool. I particularly appreciated the fresh flowers and enjoyed meeting the friendly animals.

My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights and found it perfectly suited our needs/requirements. Its location right next to the Akatarawa stream was so peaceful and the villa was private, providing a quiet environment for us to work without distraction. Mary's friendly disposition and delicious cooked breakfasts were second to none! Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet break away.
