About this Holiday House

Omarere, your home-away-from-home, is the perfect place for rest and relaxation with your loved ones. Immaculately clean with huge amounts of space inside and out – including access to bikes, a heated swimming pool, as well as games for use in the spacious garden and inside the house. A chef’s kitchen to enjoy Omarere’s home-grown fruit and vegetables, plus produce from the fully stocked local supermarket which has a large selection of local wines and cheeses. Special low rate for new bookings April to August, stay for three nights pay for two. Enjoy peace and privacy in extensive, secluded grounds within easy walking distance of the village. Omarere is a spacious and comfortable colonial-style character homestead boasting stunning gardens set within the many acres of Omarere Estate. Sleeping 16 people in 7 bedrooms, it is a perfect place for holidays, get-togethers with family or friends, or as a venue for your wedding or other special occasion. The large two-story homestead has two roomy open-plan seating areas with a cosy open fire, a dining table that seats 12 and a modern farmhouse style kitchen that looks out onto a vegetable garden. A wrap-around verandah plus secluded BBQ area (with outside dining for 16) ensure superb indoor-outdoor flow. There is an in-ground solar-heated plunge pool for you to cool off in the hot summer months with views of Omarere Estates’ own mature vines and olive grove. A complimentary bottle of local Martinborough wine chilled and waiting for you on arrival. Omarere Estate is nestled by the banks of the Huangarua River less than one and a half kilometres (a leisurely 10 minute stroll) away from the Wairarapa township of Martinborough. This area is known as the “Golden Mile” of Martinborough and is renowned for its quality soil types, and its outstanding wines, especially its Pinot Noir. Omarere is one of the oldest estates in Martinborough and the well-maintained homestead was originally part of the first farm of the town’s founding Martin family. It boasts some of the most diverse and established gardens in the region. From Omarere Estate it is a relaxing 10 minute walk or easy 2 min drive into Martinborough village for wine tasting, cafes, shops, restaurants and boutiques. Our nearest neighbour is Margrain Vineyard and their Vineyard Café is only a minutes stroll away for brunch or a leisurely lunch. There are many more world-class vineyards (including Ata Rangi, Palliser, Martinborough Vineyards and Cambridge Road) within walking distance or you can hire our bikes to visit them all. Omarere Homestead has 8 adult-sized Vineyard Cruiser bikes plus a Tandem, enabling up to 10 to cycle amongst the vineyards. All our Vineyard Cruisers come with a helmet, lock and a basket, and are a perfect way to explore the (mostly flat!) area at a relaxed, leisurely pace. Pricing is just $200 ($150 June - September) for unlimited use of all our Vineyard Cruisers for a weekend. For longer periods of use please enquire. Bikes for children can be hired in town. Omarere guests can use the Martinborough Lawn Tennis Club courts for free during their stay, along with our selection of racquets and tennis balls. We can also assist with making arrangements for a round of Golf at the nearby Martinborough Golf Club. We have Freeview and a Sky Box. For the Sky Box guests need to bring their main Sky card to install to view Sky. From the 24th of December until the 15th of January our base nightly price is $525. Guest review, from Kim, "Nestled within its very own vineyard about 1km from the heart of pretty Martinborough, is Omarere, an estate property that is perfect for the larger group. We were five women from Melbourne on their first trip to New Zealand and were beyond thrilled with this beautiful property. Sitting within manicured, private gardens, the two-storey home is both stylish and comfortable with loads of bedrooms. The living spaces are tastefully decorated with cosy couches and pretty artwork. There's an in-ground swimming pool for the warmer months, loads of shady areas outside to read, enjoy a meal or chat. For a small extra fee, you can hire your own pushbike to get in and out of town or visit the plethora of local wineries in the area (wonderfully flat and easy ride...we felt like kids again). Rochelle was a wonderful host who met us at the door and took her time to show us around the property as well as share some good dining tips for us to take advantage of (highly recommend Poppies winery for their grazing plate). Overall these five Aussies had the best time in a very beautiful part of New Zealand...so much so we plan to come back again.”

We have twice stayed in this gorgeous house in the past 6 months and plan to return again. We love the house's classic style and history; its beautiful grounds, excellent location close to the wineries and the township, and the terrific set-up for larger groups. It's definitely a luxury stay! Rochelle is brilliant to deal with, and ensures a very warm welcome for guests.
