About this Holiday House

Fabulous views over HalfMoon Bay and out to the Titi Islands. Watch the sun come up over the water from the deck (or bed!) and experience the island's birdlife from any room, day and night. A comfortable, renovated (in 2019) but character family cottage with original charm but modern convenience and located to allow you to experience all the Island has to offer. A short walk to shops, hotel and ferry, minutes from Bathing Beach and close to Church Hill restaurant. Kamahi Cottage is an unforgettable delight. From the deck and sunroom, almost everything the island has to offer can be glimpsed. Bush birds such as kaka, tui, bellbird, tomtit, kakariki, wood pigeons, fantails come and go with the seasons; seabirds such as the great mollymawks, the excitable terns, oystercatchers and skua’s come and go with the weather; on summer nights the calls of the little blue penguins that nest below in the cliffs and bush can be heard. Out to sea, beyond the heads, the illusion of the ‘Two Sisters’ lie head to head as if trapped in time and myth. Behind these, Ruapuke and the coast of Southland appear seemingly from nowhere. The wonderfully varied shapes and colours of fishing boats arrive and depart with the tide. The sun rises out of the sea, the full moon lifts over Lonnekers Beach, and at the suggestion of rain, countless rainbows emerge.

There are a variety of ways to enjoy the Island. The National Park offers many challenging tramps for the experienced hiker. Closer to home guided nature tours (Ulva Island and Kiwi Spotting are a must!), fishing charters (your fare returned in blue cod!) or self-guide around the many local walking tracks and return to dine in the cottage's bush setting with sea views - an ideal location to enjoy Annett's Perfect Dinner!

The perfect little house. Great views, clean, everything we needed in the kitchen. Cosy fire, comfy beds, fabulous new bathroom, interesting art and books, regular kaka visitors. We love this place, will definitely be back (again)!
Response from Owner
Thanks so much. I hope you make it back to the island more quickly next time.

This is a must stay here property! The cottage was beautiful and the views spectacular. A short steep walk up to the cottage but take breaks if you need and it’s so worth it. Walk down again to the village for everything you might need - a great 4 Square with everything you need. We hired a car for 24 hours which was great - get groceries then! Niki was so helpful. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
