The Retreat is close to the Akitio River which is great for swimming, fishing, kayaking, waterskiing ... At the rivermouth surf casting for Kahawai is common. Whitebait run in season. On the beach surfing, swimming, launching a longline, space for land-yachts or basking in the sun.... Easy launch for fishing boats off the beach.
