This holiday home had the most beautiful view of anywhere that we have stayed, our group of friends stayed here for New Years Eve and we were not disappointed by the fantastic deck and the direct, private access to the beach! We really appreciated the house being pet friendly for our well behaved Border Collie. The house itself was in desperate need for renovation, there was issues with the toilet door which was broken and kept locking people inside (especially not ideal in the middle of the night), the kitchen size was excellent however there was one very small fridge and one or two pans for a house advertised for up to 23 people, which was a struggle even for our much smaller group of 10! The freezer had a strong smell of fish which made ice storage difficult. Where we have stayed previously has had a separate, large fridge in the garage which we would definitely recommend for this holiday home, along with a larger main fridge. There was some exposed spiked metal embedded in the carpet leading to the lounge room and unfortunately one of our group cut their foot badly, we covered the metal with electrical tape and made the property manager aware. The BBQ was very dated and the cook top had large grates which made it impossible to BBQ smaller things like onion (which we just cooked in the kitchen). A number of the deck chairs were falling apart and were in need of replacement. Overall, there was excellent amount of space for us all and we throughly enjoyed our stay.
We recently stayed bringing three families (5 adults, 7 children) together for a family catch up. The location and house layout was excellent- it is 10 mins walk to cafes and restaurants! We had a great time. There were some issues with the house - limited hot water, BBQ not working and some of the kitchen equipment needing to be replaced - but we found the owner to be very open to our feedback and support during our stay good. You stay here for the location. It isn’t luxury accommodation or anything - but a good Bach for a kiwi style family break. I probably would not have more than 12-14 stay in the house as you will be sleeping on sofa beds etc.
