The Heron is a glorious little cottage. The personal touches left by the owner were just great. Fresh flowers in the bedroom. A fantastic breakfast with fresh eggs, salmon, gorgeous homemade bread and marmalade. Also a little bottle of bubbles. Wonderful. The setting is very peaceful, and we would highly recommend The Heron, and hope to get back there sometime.

It was even more perfect than I hoped when I booked. I loved the location, the view, and the cottage itself which was a beautiful mix of rustic and mod cons. I could have moved in and never left! The morning visits from Charley were an added delight. In spite of less than stellar Hawkes Bay weather, it was just the restful, private and quiet retreat that I had wanted.

Wonderfully romantic cottage, with fabulous views.. We loved everything about staying here..from Rae bringing us fresh bread, the butter, eggs, milk, chocolate and bubbles in the fridge, the candle lit baths with dreamy oils, eating on the verandah under the starry night, to the unscheduled early morning visits from Charley... Looking forward to a return visit..
