About this Holiday House

Kina Hut is a small self contained unit set in the middle of Akaroa Station in Anakoha Bay, outer Marlbrough Sounds. This studio is best booked alongside one of our other bachs, Kotare Quarters or Te Puka Bach. This is if you have a larger group or a couple or small family who want their own space. That way you can utilise the other bach's living spaces and amenities that Kina Hut does not provide. However if you plan on being mostly on the water or exploring tracks and hikes then you may not need all the trimmings of a large bach and this could suit you just fine. Kina Hut is set at the back of a huge shared lawn space that link up the other two accommodations. We will have this blocked out and you can send us a message to request it become available for booking. We have 2 double kayaks and a single to share. Two of which are able to hold your fishing rod and tackle gear. We have a linen service available at $20 per person (lovely fresh bedding and towels). Otherwise you will need to bring your own. While there are 3 bach rentals close by and the main farm house up the drive, you will still feel secluded and have a sense of privacy with plantings offering natural screening. Each bach is positioned in different areas of the sloping lawn and all have a different outlook onto the bay. See the aerial photo attached. You can search for our other accommodations on HolidayHouses.co.nz Kotare Quarters - Stay Anakoha Te Puka Bach - Stay Anakoha Akaroa Station is a working farm so please be advised there will be farming activities taking place outside of the accommodation grounds.

Special Amenities

You will most likely be captivated by the coming and going of the Anakoha tide. Fish jumping, dolphins patrolling and seabirds bombing the water. It really is a wonderful place to make memories with loved ones or simply relax and recharge. The accommodation grounds are extensive with a lot of new plantings and a gorgeous vege patch which you are welcome to pick from. You will also notice a lot of citrus and other fruit trees to graze on.

Special Attractions and Activities Nearby

Keen on fishing? Bring your boat and launch infront of the bach, head out to nearby hotspots such as Centinal rock or try your luck for cod, snapper and gurnard off the jetty or beach. Birdwatchers bring your binos! You will enjoy seeing our feathered friends all around. Walkers will enjoy the proximity to Mt Stokes. This is a 4-5hr return walk to the highest peak in the Marlborough Sounds. Titirangi farm park is the next bay over and Punga Cove resort is 20min scenic drive if you fancy some fine dining in their restaurant or a casual stay in the cafe over the water.

Excellent location and accommodation. Host’s Nick and Chloe went above and beyond. It’s a mini paradise.

Perfect getaway spot! Lots to see and do and plenty of space. We booked all 3 houses as a big family group and the kina hut was absolutely perfect for our little family. Great facilities and had everything we needed for our week long stay. Even caught gurnard and snapper off the jetty! Loved our stay - we hope to be back again one day!

What an amazing place to stay, if you love being by the ocean and fishing and you're thinking about this place, book it! The kina hut is an amazing little home for extra family to relax in comfort. We had our parents stay in this beautiful little place which has been recently renovated. The bed was nice and firm and stretching out on the deck was a favourite pastime. As the description makes clear, it's better to book the kina hut alongside one of the larger accommodations, especially if your family likes to cook together. The hosts are absolutely fantastic and the houses are well stocked to meet your needs on holiday. We love it here, we'll be back.
