About this Holiday House

MINIMUM 2 NIGHTS' STAY. Delightful old bach just substantially renovated, a few feet from tidal beach, a few minutes from swimming at Sandy Bay, and 10kms from surfing at Waikawau. Fruit trees, native bush, streams and beaches nearby. Quiet, private, romantic and very safe for children. This is not a Lockwood or Keith Hay, it's an old classic Kiwi Bach. We have pillows and duvets, but bring your own mozzie repellant, food, toilet paper, sheets, pillowcases and towels. Max 10 people but not 10 adults. Families with children preferred. Special Attractions and Activities Nearby

Boat launching sometimes possible off the beach right in front 3-4 hrs each side of high tide. Any tide beach launch at Sandy bay. Shallow swimming at high tide. All-tide swimming at Sandy Bay, 3kms away, surfing and DOC Campground at Waikawau, 10 kms away. Port Charles was named by Captain Cook in 1769!

Absolutely fantastic spot. Dead quiet and very peaceful. Beds are a little hard so a mattress topper wouldn't be a bad idea to pack if you prefer a softer bed. Very rustic and down to earth bach. Plenty of pots and pans etc. Bring some charcoal for the bbq and enjoy a absolute slice of paradise.

Thanks Derek. Yes, we keep bedding to a minimum. Port Charles is a tough place to recruit housekeepers...that's why we don't supply bedding and towels, as well as ask people to leave the place clean. With 2 notable exceptions, in the last 5 years it's worked beautifully. People have been wonderful. Thanks for your note about charcoal...it's in the note I send to all confirmed renters.

We loved our 3 night stay at Sam’s place. We were blessed with stunning hot, sunny weather and clear night skies full of stars. The bach is full of character and is very rustic. Our daughter said it reminded her of a Greek fisherman’s house 😂 (despite never having been to Greece 🤔). There’s an amazing garden at the back of the property with a lovely lawn and heaps of fruit trees - peaches, citrus, bananas and even a We loved how peaceful it was, the ability to collect fresh seafood, and swimming in the nearby bays. Fantastic spot for family memories.

Your daughter is brilliant! Greek was our concept (it was originally Green and Brown, a sort of hippy feel from the '60s), and although we have been all over this planet, we too have never been to Greece! LOL. I love it and miss it like crazy, it's so precious. I spent my whole life by the ocean; Caribbean, Atlantic, Pacific, am now stuck in the Sonoran Desert down by the Mexican Border in Arizona.
