About this Holiday House

Delightful old cottage a few feet from tidal beach, a few minutes from all-tide sandy beach swimming at Sandy Bay, and 10kms from ocean beach surfing at Waikauwau. Fruit trees, native bush, streams and beaches nearby. Quiet, private, romantic and very safe for children. But please be aware this is not a Lockwood or Keith Hay, (or the Hilton), it's an old classic Kiwi Bach, so if you want something modern and antiseptic, this may not be for you. It's not insulated, can get a bit dusty and cobwebby. Bring your own mozzie repellant, food, toilet paper, linen and towels. Non-smoking

Loved our stay here! It was just what we were looking for - simple, light and surprisingly spacious, in one of our favourite spots! We really enjoyed meeting Amy too (and she certainly went the extra mile(s!) for us, bless her). Can't wait to come back!

Our whanau of 11 stayed at this bach for a weekend and yes it is not the hilton or have all the modern things some people are use no this place had so so much more character we all loved it even the kids had a ball being in the bunk room having there own space away for the adults. We Loved all the natives around the property that also brought the tuis around the house beautiful to wake up to insted of traffic and the veiw is awesome you can swim but it is quite rocky no sweat for paddle boards kayak dingys though, but the bays close by are sandy and a little better swimming. yes its gravel and way out but its worth it the untouched and not so disturbed land another beauty. No service was tricky but was good to get away from it all you can get service for some netwrks though. Sam was awesome fast and easy to get in touch with and Amy was truly amazing very helpful in every way possible. We will be back again and next time for longer. Again thank you for allowing us to enjoy your little slice of paradise much appriecated Char and Whanau 😊

Oh Sam, I so want to give your bach a great review because it is a pretty cool, classic and delightfully eccentric place. However, we were SO very pleased to be staying for just one night! We honestly felt genuine pity for the next lot of people coming in who were staying for 3-4 nights after us, just because it is the middle of winter and this bach is simply not fit for habitation in the winter. I am guessing it is fine in summer...? But the many cracked and broken windows, holey window and door frames and lack of insulation basically render it little more than a hard-walled tent. Even the dog was freezing ;) We did think it was pretty clean for such an old, musty place and the kids reckon they had the best sleep in ages ;) and the potbelly was great (though potentially unsafe?? No suitably positioned smoke alarms!) So not a complete washout and we will enjoy the memories! But it is seriously sub-standard Sam, sorry to say. We charge the same amount/night for our beautiful, super-insulated, warm, clean, well-appointed accommodation set in the bush close to the sea, which is infinitely better value for money. It is a great spot, just needs some serious TLC and updated photos if you are going to continue to rent it out. Just saying. Amy was lovely though :D

Only just saw this...we are so sorry...I am in Arizona and have not been there for 18 months...we are getting a crew in to address these issues...I will add that we get mostly great reviews. It is NOT a flash, well insulated bach, as stated in the info, and can be a challenge in the winter for sure! It's a summer beach bach!
