About this Holiday House Welcome to our family’s happy place. When we aren't using it ourselves, we love opening up the Whananaki Barn to larger families or groups looking for a genuine, peaceful retreat. Set on a 15-acre lifestyle block, the property is surrounded by rolling pastures, a small olive orchard, and stunning, expansive views of native bush and the beach. It’s the perfect spot to slow down, watch the sunrise with a morning coffee, or catch the sunset after a day on the water. A Real, Lived-In Family Home Because this is our actual family holiday home, it has a wonderful, relaxed energy. You’ll find our family photos on the walls and personal items around the place. Because of that, it comes with a bit of normal, honest wear and tear—meaning it is absolutely perfect for families. You don't have to stress about the kids being perfect here; it’s a space built for making real memories and completely winding down. Pets: We are open to hosting your four-legged friends, but families must request permission before bringing pets so we can ensure it's a good fit for the property. The Setup (Sleeps up to 10 Guests) Your booking gives you full, exclusive use of the entire property setup, which comfortably accommodates up to 10 guests across the main house and our three charming, separate cabins. The Main Barn: Features a classic, Heritage Barn-style build with a relaxed, open-plan living, dining, and kitchen area down below, along with a shared toilet and shower room. Upstairs, you'll find one cosy, open-plan loft bedroom that comfortably sleep 4 guests. The Cabins: Included as an integral part of your stay are three separate, charming cabins located just steps from the main house. Each one room cabin has its own distinct charm and sleeps 2 guests, perfectly accommodating an additional 6 guests across the three spaces. Extra Guests / Camping: While the main property setup is geared for 10 people, we can sometimes accommodate a few extra guests wishing to pitch tents on the lawn. However, you must inquire and receive permission first before planning for extra campers so we can ensure the off-grid facilities can handle the numbers. (Note: Extra charges apply) Authentic Off-Grid Living This is a true off-grid experience, which is a huge part of its charm! Power is supplied by off-grid solar, and our water is fresh rainwater stored in tanks. It's perfect for unplugging and living a bit more simply, though it does mean being mindful of power and water use during your stay. The Location We are perfectly positioned to enjoy the best of the coast: Rockell Bay: Just a quick 3-minute drive down the road. Moureeses Bay: A 5-minute drive takes you to one of Whananaki’s absolute gems. It’s fantastic for surfing, bodyboarding, or just finding a quiet spot on the sand with a good book. Whether you're looking for a quiet tech-detox or a classic Kiwi beach holiday base with family and friends, the Barn and Cabins offer a unique, memorable escape.
