About this Holiday House

Sorry but we are now fully booked until April - every weekend and a lot of the mid week nights too - I've blocked off unbooked mid weeks until the 1st April 2022 when we can take bookings again - we need the space between weekends to service the bach between bookings. See you from April onwards!! WINNER of Bronze in the NZ wide 'Best Setting' 2016 'Golden PIWA Awards' this elevated absolute waterfront property enjoys spectacular sea views to the Poor Knight Islands and the Whananaki coastline from nearly every room in the house. Set on 5 acres, fringed by pohutukawas and native bush along the shoreline this unique property enjoys two private beaches and its own mooring in a sheltered, all weather sandy bay. Breakfast at the outside table with sea views to die for, recline on the deck and soak up the all day sun, play volleyball or cricket on the massive front lawn, wander along a loop track through native bush to the point - a special place to sit and contemplate above the ocean, check out on a side track what was once a small Maori pa, walk down our private track with steps to the beach to swim, fish off the point, snorkel or dive for crays, take our two kayaks for a paddle around the bay or along the coast or take your boat off the mooring and out for a day's fishing. The fish and cray in the photos were caught from the offshore reef just out from the beach. Winter fishing is best here. We are two and a half hrs from Auckland, a little over half an hr to Whangarei and only 5 minutes to a great surf beach, 2 minutes to a boat launching ramp in the Whananaki estuary or 3 minutes to the local general store (no fuel). Our dining table seats 10 to 12. Tiled ensuite plus separate upstairs and downstairs bathrooms, 2 fridges plus a stand alone chest freezer. Fish cleaning bench, bait freezer. There is heaps of parking and turning for boats, cars and trailers. We charge a bond of $500 to cover any loss/damage.

Came here for a getaway for my 40th birthday with some friends, such an amazing location even during the winter, the views are breathtaking the Bach accommodating 10 people easily, the owners were lovely and very easy to communicate with. Will definitely be back 😊

Breathtaking location... quintessential New Zealand coastal views, with the famous Poor Knights islands in the distance. Our kids loved running around on the big lawn out front, swimming down in the bay, jumping off the pontoon, fishing off the rocks (we got a couple of little ones to keep them entertained), and having surf comps at the awesome beaches 5 mins around the corner to the North. It was the perfect location for our 3 families, plenty of room for everyone including a fun kids bunk room, heaps of fridge space and big living and deck areas with spectacular views for our morning coffees and evening vinos! We were entertained by the local tuis, gannets diving, wood pigeons, and quite possibly the largest family of quails I’ve ever seen. It was great having the garage handy and available to load all of our fishing, snorkelling, surfing and sporting paraphernalia...making it easy to pack in activities. Our crew also enjoyed the walk over the looonng footbridge across the estuary to Whananaki South... do the loop out to the ocean beach then back through the recreation area... and look out for the cool rope/tree swing on the estuary side if you have kids... we had to drag them away. A very special place and a great base for all the local beaches and activities.

Breathtakingly picture perfect. Great host. What a great find. We had 20 guests coming and going over 10 days. Couldn’t have been better.

The weekend rates apply to any public holidays. Mid week rates during the period February to December are discounted from the higher weekend rates. Winter rates discounted further to make it cheaper for smaller groups up to 10 people with $30 p/p p/n for the number over that.

The TV has freeview with a satellite dish or bring yr own Sky decoder.

Linen (optional) at $15 per person.

Cleaning $100 per stay

Dogs by arrangement.

Blankets/duvets provided on all beds as part of the general rental. Electric blankets not on 4 bunk beds.

Rental starts at 6 pm and ends at 2 pm to allow servicing between different parties. I don't mind groups starting earlier or finishing later in the day if the bach isn't being used by other groups that day (let me know if you want to do this).

I offer free cancellation if the weather looks bad . However, of the 7 groups I have offered this to over 6 years none have cancelled and 6/7 found the weather far better than forecast. A line of hills behind us funnels a lot of rain away so we are far drier than say Whangarei.
