About this Holiday House

WINNER of Bronze in the NZ wide 'Best Setting' 2016 'Golden PIWA Awards' this elevated absolute waterfront property enjoys spectacular sea views to the Poor Knight Islands and the Whananaki coastline from nearly every room in the house. Set on 5 acres, fringed by pohutukawas and native bush along the shoreline this unique property enjoys two private beaches and its own mooring in a sheltered, all weather sandy bay. Breakfast at the outside table with sea views to die for, recline on the deck and soak up the all day sun, play volleyball or cricket on the massive front lawn, wander along a loop track through native bush to the point - a special place to sit and contemplate above the ocean, check out on a side track what was once a small Maori pa, walk down our private track with steps to the beach to swim, fish off the point, snorkel or dive for crays, take our two kayaks for a paddle around the bay or along the coast or take your boat off the mooring and out for a day's fishing. The fish and cray in the photos were caught from the offshore reef just out from the beach. Winter fishing is best here. We are two and a half hrs from Auckland, a little over half an hr to Whangarei and only 5 minutes to a great surf beach, 2 minutes to a boat launching ramp in the Whananaki estuary or 3 minutes to the local general store (no fuel). Our dining table seats 10 to 12. Tiled ensuite plus separate upstairs and downstairs bathrooms, 3 fridges plus a stand alone chest freezer. Fish cleaning bench, bait freezer. There is heaps of parking and turning for boats, cars and trailers. We charge a bond of $500 to cover any loss/damage.

What a fabulous find! The house and location are even better than the photos and a great place to have a mid-winter Christmas getaway for a large group. The views are stunning from all the main living areas so some people hardly left the house it was so nice. The use of the kayaks was an added bonus as there is a beautiful bay to explore just down from the property. Steve was very easy to deal with and accommodating letting us have a late check-out. If you have a big group this house is fantastic value for money as its top quality for a reasonable price. Many thanks for a fantastic stay!

Thanks Steve for the opportunity to rent your fabulous holiday home for a special family weekend. It suited us perfectedly with 2 families of 5 (including teenagers) plus my elderly parents (in their 80's). What a stunning property, perfectly orientated to take advantage of the amazing views. Really appreciated your pre and post rental communication with us which was timely and gave us all the info we needed, plus the comprehensive information pack (and fishing tips!) you sent us. In fact my brother followed your advice and caught several fish on softbaits off the rocky islet including a 63cm snapper which fed us all! The house is really well set up with modern bathrooms and up to the minute kitchen. Fantastic to have the multiple fridges too. We made good use of the fire given the time of year, but we were also fortunate to have a wonderful weekend of all sorts of weather including awesome sunrises looking out to the Poor Knights, rainbows, and protection from the keen at times southwesterly. Lovely private beach at the bottom of the track, which even our slightly unsteady special needs daughter managed (although not my parents), and we made good use of the kayaks to explore the stunning coastline even though the water was a bit chilly. Kotari Point is just a magical place, highly recommended, and we look forward to staying again.

Amazing Place! We visited back in October and fell in love with this spot. Steve was great to deal with and the house was perfect. Views are stunning and my Eldest Son even caught a big Snapper off the Rocks. Hope to be back very soon! :)

The weekend rates apply to any public holidays. Mid week rates during the period February to December are discounted from the higher weekend rates. Winter rates discounted further to make it cheaper for smaller groups up to 10 people with $30 p/p p/n for the number over that.

Minimum stay length during summer (Jan to end of March) is 4 nights.

The TV has freeview with a satellite dish or bring yr own Sky decoder.

Linen (optional) at $15 per person.

Cleaning $100 per stay

Dogs by arrangement.

Blankets/duvets provided on all beds as part of the general rental. Electric blankets not on 4 bunk beds.

Hire starts at 3pm and ends at 10 am to allow servicing between different parties. I don't mind groups starting earlier or finishing later in the day if the bach isn't being used by other groups that day (let me know if you want to do this).

I offer free cancellation if the weather looks bad . However, of the 7 groups I have offered this to over 6 years none have cancelled and 6/7 found the weather far better than forecast. A line of hills behind us funnels a lot of rain away so we are far drier than say Whangarei.
