Hei Matau is such a lovely, warm, sunny place to stay! We loved having a view of the ocean and the bush. It is so quiet and peaceful. There was everything we needed in the kitchen to cook meals and it was only a few minutes drive from the Moeraki Tavern where we had the most fresh and delicious fish n chip we've ever tasted!

This was our 2nd stay and we had two enjoyable nights. It's a great place: very quiet and very comfortable and an excellent outlook, (mostly bush and the sea view is good, particularly from the deck.) Ten minute walk to the tavern. The owner or person managing the property is very thoughtful with a starter of butter in the fridge and plunger coffee. Spacious and very clean. We didn't use the family size barbeque but it looked like it would do the job nicely. The full size fridge and freezer meant this place was ideal for a family of four and the TV provided access to many streaming services on your own sign in and password. The only concern for some is access to the property in terms of the hilly and bumpy road is not ideal - more a reflection on the local body than the owner. Covered car port when you arrive. Would definitely visit again - HIGHLY REC!
