Once on the sandy beach, if you walk right (south), this will take you to the Moeraki Boulders which form part of the Waitaki Whitestone Unesco Geopark, If walking to the Moeraki Boulders, it is important to check the tides before you leave and only start the walk if you have time to walk there and back on low tide, as access is limited to the cliff face in high tide Hampden is a small town in the Waitaki District of Otago Region in the South Island of Aotearoa New Zealand.
