Our family cottage on Oakdale Farm was restored to its early colonial charm and is the perfect place for a romantic getaway! It is fairly basic, but the high ceiling brings light into the small cottage and colonial furnishings & original kauri flooring give a further sense of history. Windows in Rosemantic Cottage overlook a mix of magnificent English oaks & mature native bush and a small lake with Japanese Iris and a Monet-style bridge reflecting the peace of the countryside. There is a small kitchenette with an electric frypan, toaster, kettle, cooking utensils etc. Additionals available on request. Enjoy a 10-minute walk over rolling hills to our small olive grove, overlooking the stunning Hauraki Gulf and Waiheke island which can be visited by ferry. A delightful bush walk winds alongside our pretty stream, home of rare eels and small native Kura. (tiny crayfish) There is any number of great spots to just sit and enjoy an alfresco picnic. Re-charge by relaxing on the deck reading, listening to the Tuis & native wood pigeons in the surrounding native bush On the property, is also Oakdale Farm homestead which was built in 1880, one the original historic homesteads in the area. It has been lovingly restored as a wonderful family home by my parents over the past 40 years. There you can wander through the organic, potager garden. Enjoy
