Surrounded by native forest and birdsong, The Lookout is a wonderfully peaceful place to slow down and unwind. Walking tracks to waterfalls, ancient native trees and Mt Peel are right on your doorstep, yet you're only 15 minutes drive from Geraldine. Beds are made up with quality linen ready for your arrival, and your stay includes breakfast cereal, plunger coffee, teas, toiletries and cleaning. Free Wi-Fi and private parking are also included. A SPECIAL PLACE The Lookout sits amongst more than a hectare of private native forest adjoining Peel Forest Scenic Reserve. The house has been thoughtfully refurbished using natural timbers, plant-based oils, handcrafted interiors and clay walls. Native birds are regular visitors around the house and gardens, including bellbirds, kereru, fantails and rifleman. Wake to the dawn chorus, enjoy morning coffee amongst the treetops, or head outside at night to enjoy the stars and wonderfully dark skies. The house is sunny, spacious and exceptionally warm, with a wood fire, heat pump and electric blankets for cosy winter stays. Families are very welcome, with a portacot, highchair, stairgates, children's books and games available. FOREST, GARDENS & OUTDOOR LIVING The private gardens and forest are yours to explore during your stay. Walking tracks wind through the property, with a stream, footbridge and a rustic children's hut tucked amongst the trees. The main deck has outdoor dining and a BBQ overlooking the forest. WALKING & HIKING Peel Forest Scenic Reserve is renowned for its beautiful native forest and walking tracks. There are walks for a wide range of abilities, from gentle forest walks to ancient trees, through to waterfall tracks and longer hikes into the mountains and up Mt Peel. Maps and walking information are provided so you can simply choose a track and head out from The Lookout. THE HOUSE The Lookout is a private, three-bedroom split-level home over three levels: Top level: Fully equipped kitchen, dining area, upper viewing deck and queen bedroom. Middle level: Lounge with wood fire opening onto the main deck and BBQ area, plus the master queen bedroom with its own private deck. Lower level: Bedroom with one double and one single bed with trundler, bathroom and two toilets. The fully equipped kitchen includes pantry items guests are welcome to use. A washing machine and ironing facilities are also provided. The home is equipped with a Smart TV, and DVDs. The bathroom features a rainhead shower over a clawfoot bath, heated towel rail, quality towels and handcrafted timber interiors. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash are provided. PEACE & PRIVACY You'll have exclusive use of the house, gardens and surrounding property throughout your stay. We live approximately 15 minutes away, so while you'll have complete privacy, we're nearby and happy to help if you need anything. GETTING TO THE HOUSE Part of The Lookout experience is the short, magical walk through the forest from the private carpark to the house. It takes approximately two minutes and includes a gentle incline and steps on the steeper section. Guests with limited mobility may find the walk difficult. We recommend packing reasonably lightly. There is plenty of private parking, including room for a campervan or a car and boat.
