Zalira is a modern, sun-soaked family retreat just 3km from Mangawhai Village. North-facing with beautiful rural views and glimpses of the estuary, it’s designed for relaxed holidays where everyone can spread out and unwind. The home offers seamless indoor–outdoor living with everything you need for a comfortable stay — two living areas, surround sound, Netflix, a well-appointed kitchen with scullery, an outdoor hot shower, swimming pool, and a large covered outdoor room. The outdoor dining table comfortably seats 12, with space for 14 when everyone’s gathered. The expansive section gives kids plenty of room to run free — and yes, dogs are welcome, with plenty of space to stretch their legs (small, non-shedding dogs only inside the house and sleeping areas). Sleeping up to 14 guests, Zalira is ideal for large family groups or a combination of families. We regularly host two — and even three — families holidaying together, with plenty of space for shared time and quiet retreat. Zalira is well suited to family groups and respectful gatherings, including girls’ weekends and milestone celebrations with family and friends. It’s not suitable for large or uncontrolled parties, or events with additional guests beyond those booked. For smaller stays, there is also the option to book Flax & Feather separately. Flax is a cosy cabin suited to a couple, with a queen bed and a small kitchenette suitable for light use only (coffee, drinks, and simple meals), with no cooking facilities. The bathroom is shared with Feather, an adjacent bunk room sleeping four, making this option ideal for family groups. Together, Flax & Feather comfortably accommodate 2 to 6 guests, offering a more intimate stay while still enjoying the peaceful Zalira setting.
