This is a fantastic place to stay with some great walks. Highly recommend.

Had a most enjoyable short stay despite not having perfect weather. We still got in some walking in these beautiful hills and warmed ourselves by the woodstove in the evening. Great value for money.
Response from Owner
Thanks for finding us and for staying
My two children (age 6 and 8 years)and I spent three nights in the backpacker cottage in January 2014. Jane kindly gave us sole use of the cottage so we were able to relax and make ourselves at home with ease. The cottage is rustic and homely and well equipped. The nearby gardens were fun for the children to explore; they immediately used the chunky fence ropes as swings and acrobatic platforms! We loved the visiting sheep and the amazing outlook from the garden. We spent each day walking and playing in the swimming holes in the river. The Yellow Walk was perfect for the age of the children. Jane was a wonderful host. She recognised my sons passion for farming and on our final day invited us to visit her home where we toured the farm, bottle fed the lambs, watched a horse being shoed and got a real sense of life on the farm. Visiting Haurata was an outdoor adventure in a truly beautiful, private space. I highly recommend a visit - children and adults alike.
