Amazing and beautiful house in a stunning, peaceful location!! We LOVED our stay at the Stone House!! Highly recommend it!
This is one of the most beautiful houses in the area situated on a couple of acres. Our young children played all day on the swings while we took in the amazing view of coronet peak. Only about 10min drive from town but in a very quiet location. The house is open plan with plenty of rooms. We chose to stay here instead of a 2 bed apartment in town as it suits larger parties better and lots of space. The house isn't that old and has immense character and plenty of amenities. We are definitely coming back here again and I highly recommend staying here you won't be disappointed.
The house certainly had good bones and lots of Character, the views were beautiful, warm as there was an abundance of firewood supplied and when the fire was lit the house warmed up surprisingly quickly. The location was perfect for us, 8 mins to Arrowtown and about the same or maybe a little more to Queenstown. These were the good points! We have only given the house a "three" as we found it to be generally rather grubby, the kitchen cupboards had not been cleaned for quite sometime, the pantry was a shambles with many boxes of used teabags, rancid butter etc, the oven was very dirty. The furnishings, particularly the carpets were tatty and grubby. The wardrobe in the downstairs bedroom was large but there was still no room to hang clothes, they were full of the Owners personal belongings, unused pillows, duvets inners & children's toys etc. For what was advertised as a luxury holiday home was not up to our expectations and for the price tag we expected at the very least the house to be spotless. We were asked to pay an additional fee on top of the day rate to cover cleaning and linen hire which we thought was a bit cheeky to say the least!
Response from Owner
The current people in the house have been in touch and love the place and are going to book for next year. The door being left open and a new cleaner let us down. The place is rustic as advertised on the site. We get future bookings on a regular basic as repeat stays so obviously a rustic alpine house is not your cup of tea. The cleaners are all sorted and you were not required to pay due to them letting us down.
