About this Holiday House

Custom built holiday home perched on Paku Hill with incomparable views of the Pacific Ocean, coastline and offshore islands. Spacious, protected deck to watch moonrises and sunsets. Trail from the house leads to long, sandy Ocean Beach, ideal for swimming, good snorkling along the reef & surfing when conditions are right, a monring jog or basking in the sun. Enjoy a hot outside shower with a 180 degree view. Walk along the esturary one kilometer to the town of Tairua with shops & services; or closer to the wharf and ferry, dive shop, charter fishing and our favorite cafe - "Old Mill." House is open and airy with local wood floors, Kauri cabinets and detailing, open beam ceilings, modern kitchen, carpeted bedrooms, fireplace for chilly nights, and a deck large enough to spend most your time. The master suite takes the entire upstairs with views all around. Very quiet, romantic & peaceful setting. Tairua on the Coromandel Peninsula has a Maritime climate with year round activities. Excellent fishing and diving; we enjoy our own catches of crayfish (lobster) and paua (abalone) and snapper often. Kayak in the estuary or open ocean to nearby Motuhoa Island. Most days we find we do not need to, or want to, drive anywhere. Besides all the ocean activities there are local walks & trails, biking, or take the 10 minute ferry to Pauanui. There are easy drives to a multitiude of unique & beautiful beaches, and to a host of other activities such as exploring the old goldmines in Broken Hills, wine tasting in Mercury Bay, thermal bathing at Hot Water Beach, or a visit to the giant Kauri forests. Just a two hour drive from Auckland airport.

Truly extraordinary place! The home is perched on Mt Paku, with some of the most expansive views of the ocean I have ever seen. The house has big glass windows and an awesome porch, so you feel like you are watching the changing moods of the ocean constantly. Saw a bright orange full moon rise over the islands, dolphins, and several double rainbows. Magic place. Allie and Laurel were very accommodating and easy-going. Couldn't recommend the place more. Very good deal for how special it is. Definitely one of the favorite spots I visited in New Zealand.

We spent a wonderful 5 nights here in December 2014 with our two young children. Despite the mostly cold, wet and windy weather (unusual this time of year) we had a great time thanks to the stunning views and cosy fireplace to thaw out by after wet days exploring beaches, waterfalls and Kauri groves. Our final day dawned bright and sunny and we finally made the most of the gorgeous deck and beach access. The house is comfortable and well-equipped and shops etc are just a short drive away. We will leave with magical memories of our holiday.

We loved making this holiday home our home for two weeks! The house has a magnificent view of the ocean, islands, and the beach below. Morning coffee on the deck while watching early swimmers and surfers was a great way to start the day. The house is very comfortable and had everything we needed. Tairua's central location on the Coromandel Peninsula was perfect for traveling in many directions. We visited Whitianga, Hahei, Opoutere Beach, Whangamata, and Coromandel Town. Our favorite adventures were hiking down the trail and swimming at the Tairua Beach, kayaking at Cathedral Cove in Hahei, and hiking at Broken Hills in Tairua. We also enjoyed relaxing and doing very little on some days while recuperating from our very active two month adventure in New Zealand.
