Walk along the estuary one kilometer to the town of Tairua with shops & services, cafes & food trucks; or closer to the wharf, dive shop, charter fishing, favorite restaurant The Beach Club and Old Mill Cafe. House is open and airy with local wood floors, Kauri cabinets and detailing, open beam ceilings, modern kitchen, carpeted bedrooms, fireplace for chilly nights, and a deck large enough to spend most your time. The master suite takes the entire upstairs with views all around. Very quiet, romantic & peaceful setting. Tairua on the Coromandel Peninsula has a Maritime climate with year round activities. Excellent fishing and diving; we enjoy our own catches of crayfish (lobster) and paua (abalone) and snapper. Kayak in the estuary or open ocean to nearby Motuhoa Island. Most days we find we do not need to, or want to, drive anywhere. Besides all the ocean activities there are local walks & trails, biking, and golfing. There are easy drives to a multitiude of unique & beautiful beaches, and to a host of other activities such as exploring the old goldmines in Broken Hills, wine tasting in Mercury Bay, thermal bathing at Hot Water Beach, or a visit to the giant Kauri forests. We are just a two hour drive from Auckland airport.
