The cottage is situated in a quiet, established area with native planting and pretty gardens to enjoy. Kuaotunu beach is a hidden gem. Luke's Kitchen is a must for anyone visiting Kuaotunu where you can sit in or take away wood fired pizzas, their famous mussel chowder and a selection of craft beers . There is often live music. Check their websites for opening times which may vary seasonally. The fab "kua kawhe" cafe next door has awesome homemade food and the Kuaotunu dairy serves huge fabulous icereams from the palour. There is star gazing tours, its 20 mins to Optio bay. Otama beach on the way is a stunning isolated piece of sandy coastline that you can often have to yourself. Locally roasted award winning coffee La La operates from here and the art community is strong. There's local yoga twice weekly in the Kuaotunu Hall and surf lessons at Matarangi beach. 20 mins to Whitianga where you will find a real NZ treasure, "The lost spring". Whitianga waterways are worth a look at and of course the shops and supermarkets. (Dunes Golf course) is 10 mins away at Matarangi as is Matarangi beach. It is 30 mins to Coromandel town. We are family friendly (children over 4) please We have 2 cavalier king Charles spaniel dogs on site.
