Well we did go back! This time for 7 nights. Had such a relaxing holiday as well as fitting in a number of lovely meals at the local cafes and tavern in the region. The weather was great nearly every day. Went for lots of walks and met lots of lovely locals. We were also lucky enough to meet Sharlene and Phil who own A1. They are a very friendly hospitable couple. Thank you so much again and we are already dreaming about our next visit. Cheers :-)

What a wonderful spot. Fabulous changing estuary and mountain views. The unit was very clean and comfortable with everything we needed. We only stayed 2 nights which was not long enough to do all the things this awesome region has to offer. The weather was perfect too. Next time we stay here we will stay for longer and take our little boat so we can explore the estuary and river you see out of the large ranch sliders in the living area which open up to the views. Thanks so much for allowing us to share your cool holiday home. :-)

We stayed at A1 under slightly unexpected circumstances in that we'd planned an Easter biking weekend around northern Golden Bay - but I had to have an unanticipated ankle operation on the Thursday before Good Friday -so was pretty inactive and useless. The Saturday was fairly wet and I spent the day on the couch - which was actually fascinating, watching the Ruataniwha Inlet changing all the time and the Royal Spoonbills in what we christened the Nickle-Nackle Tree across the river. The views are spectacular, A1's very private and the owners very hospitable - and we thoroughly enjoyed our reasonable static weekend. We're planning to eventually do the biking weekend and will certainly stay at A1 again then - hopefully it'll be avauiable that weekend!

So glad we chose A1 Abode as our base while we explored the area. The location is perfect to head inland to Bainham, the Naked Possum etc as well as in the other direction with the fabulous coastal areas of Farewell Spit, Whararikiri etc. Then in the evening it's just a wee stroll into Collingwood for supplies or a meal. It was clean and comfortable with loads of interesting and useful information compiled and made available by the owners and the views are absolutely mesmerising!

We had an absolutely lovely time at A1 Abode. The view was all we could wish for and as for the flocks of Royal Spoonbills I'm afraid I neglected my family to photograph them! I also enjoyed watching the changing tide and the play of the light on the estuary.

The amenities were perfect for cooking for ourselves and the beds were extremely comfortable. It was a great place to stay as a family.

I would thoroughly recommend staying here and we hope to do so again at some point in the future.

We so enjoyed our stay at this quintessential New Zealand holiday home. A great place to take some time out and enjoy the views across the Aorere estuary.
