About this Holiday House
Experience unparalleled relaxation for up to 20 people at this Coromandel Peninsula property located in the beautiful beach town of Hahei. The unique group of houses, known as ‘Te Rawhiti’ (a Maori phrase evocative of the rising sun) offers a distinct combination of peace, space and outdoor fun, with a sublime location on a plateau overlooking the village of Hahei, and a unique layout comprising four houses, each with its own character, outlook and amenities.
Rent only the Main House (3 double rooms, 1 twin room and 1 single room) from $850 a night ($765 off-peak), add on other houses, or rent the entire property for a total of 11 bedrooms across four houses. For rates, please contact the owner on the enquiry form.
The main architect-designed five-bedroom house has expansive views of Mercury Bay, Hahei village and the surrounding countryside. The property is just a five-minute walk to Hahei village (where you will find an excellent general store, a popular indoor/outdoor pub/microbrewery, a family-friendly cafe with great food and coffee, and self-service fuel) and another two minutes to stunning Hahei Beach. You never need to use your car.
The walkway leading to world-famous Cathedral Cove is currently closed due to slips, but meanwhile there are many boat tours and kayak options to take you there. When repaired in 2024 the track will again be accessible via a nearby summer shuttle bus during peak season, or you can walk to the start of the track in 30 minutes from Te Rawhiti, 20 minutes from the beach or store. Allow another 30-40 minutes for the walkway to the cove itself.
The large lawn, landscaped gardens and peaceful setting of Te Rawhiti make this a special holiday setting for groups of family and friends. The main house's fully equipped modern kitchen and 10-seater indoor and outdoor dining tables make for long chatty meals - including dinners under the stars. Lounge and read a book on the spacious patio, nod off in a gently swaying hammock (there are two on the property) or enjoy cricket with the kids on the house’s large front lawn.
And if you want to fly in by helicopter, you can land it on the lawn!
