The stay was perfect, from the informative and helpful e-mails before we arrived, to the cleanliness and layout of the accommodation to the friendly and welcoming owners that greeted us the next day, ( we arrived late at night and transport had been arranged for us), the family were approachable and nothing was to much trouble, their two youngest kids played with our grandkids and they all got on famously. The owners, Con and Serena even provided us with some marinated fish, which was lovely, enough for our whole tribe of 9 people! The guesthouse is within easy walking distance of Muri beach, the best beach on the Island in my opinion, with shops, bars, waterborne pastimes and, of course, the beautiful beach with it's Islands! There is a car rental office at the bottom of the road and an activities office a little further along where you can book most things to do around the Island. Serena offered to chase up and confirm a fishing charter that I had been attempting to book and she came up with the goods for us. The accommodation was ideal for us, one couple had the studio unit, perfect for 2 people and we had the apartment below the owners accommodation. Our kids are a little noisy and boisterous to say the least and when we asked if they are a worry Serena couldn't be more understanding and assured us they would not be a problem. The apartment consisted of a large bedroom with a massive king sized bed and ensuite, there were some other single beds in the room should you need them, there was a ceiling fan, that got well used and was a godsend! Ranch sliders opened onto the veranda. The other bedrooms were just as large, one with some single beds, the other with a large bed and some more single beds,( beds galore!), the lounge was again very large and the kitchen area was, yes large and well equipped with just about everything you would need. There was another bathroom to accommodate all the people you might have staying. All rooms had ceiling fans. The grounds were well kept and the pool was another godsend! Every morning we all had a dip in the pool and later in the day on returning from beach outings the pool was again well used! It is big enough to accommodate a large group of people at once. The pool area was well stocked with a massive BBQ and all the tools needed to cook with, there is an outside toilet, plenty of bench space and ample seating. There are also sinks to do your washing up after a good Barbie, of which we had plenty of! There is also a laundry available for guest use, not that I'd know a lot about that, ( man, duh!)! The rooms were serviced regularly and the rubbish emptied daily, this done by sometimes Jayden, an older sibling to their lovely girls, Reva and Tia, or the cleaning lady who never seemed to stop working! All in all, Muri Hillside Guesthouse far exceeded our expectations, I couldn't recommend it highly enough to do it justice, the place, the owners, the family and the surroundings all made for one of the best holidays we have had in a long time, thanks guys, you made our holiday as perfect as it could be, we will be back!
