Very classic kiwi bach but with enough updated facilities in the kitchen/bathroom etc to cook a nice meal and feel rested and relaxed. The area is gorgeous and plenty to do on days you dont feel like just lying on the deck reading a book!

We really enjoyed our stay at Te Whare Orangi. It’s a well appointed bach with everything we needed for a comfy stay. It’s set in a quiet and serene native garden and is just a short walk to the lovely Parapara Beach. Access to the community kayaks is a highlight. A great location to explore Golden Bay! Thanks for having us.

It should say "Linen:Please Enquire". Our group of 6 was informed 2 days b4 arrival, linen only provided if you do laundry yourself, also you have do the cleaning. We expressed surprise, pointing out these weren't mentioned in the listing (Still not) Would have taken about half a day to wash 6 ppl's sheets & towels, so we took own towels as well as sheets for 2 of 3 rooms, as the listing (inaccurately) says there is a King, a Qn, & a Dbl - we don't have any king sheets, but in fact there's no King so we could've taken Queens for that room too. These issues added inconvenience for our party of 6 adults who wanted relaxation after the death of a family member. Second stay (booked b4 the 1st stay) with 80+yr old friends; no hot water on morning of departure. Switched off by a previous occupant, information we were given did not mention to check (& had been OK on previous stay). Were offered late check out to wait for the water heat up, but didn't have time due to a busy itinerary. :(
