About this Holiday House

1.3km from Terrace Downs Golf Resort, close to Rakaia River and Lake Coleridge for fishing, 45 minutes to get to Mt Hutt skifield, close to many other activities. Great family holiday home accommodation or for a weekend break for two (only 1 hour from Christchurch). A two bedroom cottage which sleeps six (maximum), it is fully self contained and well equipped, with stunning views of Mount Hutt and the surrounding hills. It is off the road so is private and quiet other than farm activities nearby. Very sunny and warm, with a large fenced lawn area, sand pit, and plenty of room to park (including boats), car port for car, log fire for winter heating (wood supplied). Other close by activities include jet boating, fishing, ballooning, horse riding, and Methven village all within 20 minutes. Please note - sorry but no pets as the cottage is situated in the middle of a working farm. Check out our Facebook page.

It is not easy to find the first time you stay here. The cottage is located atop a small hill above the farm along the road, and the owner stays in the house closer to the main road. Cathie is a nice host, and she has prepared and set everything ready for our arrival. The entrance is from the side of the farmhouse, and the key is already there. The master room comes with a queen bed, while the second room houses two sets of double beds. There is a small kitchen with a small dining table, and the living hall is reasonably big with a sofa. The well-equipped kitchen allows you to cook your meals. The farmhouse does not completely face the farm, so you need to walk a short distance to reach the farms. This is also good for separating the kids directly from the farm.

We had a very pleasant stay. My daughter was able to interact with the sheep, just as she had hoped, and the unimaginable vastness of the natural surroundings was soothing. At night, we were able to spot the Southern Cross in the starry sky, and the unexpected snowy scenery in the morning was a wonderful memory. Thank you very much.
