Double and single kayaks and life jackets available. The beach is swimmable at all stages of the tide. There are lots of rock-pools to explore around the island and in the little cove next along. There is a boat ramp on to the beach for launching medium size boats. Larger boats need to launch at Tutukaka. 10 minutes to basic shopping and 30 minutes to Whangarei. While we ask people to bring their own linen, we can help with this for overseas and inter-island bookings at a charge of $15 per person. Please bear in mind that the third bedroom is a cabin outside the back door and is not suitable for children under 8 years of age.

There are six other beaches close by: Pacific Bay 1km, Kowharewa Bay 2 km (water-sking lane), Church Bay 3km, Matapouri 10km, Whale Bay 12km (access by clifftop walkway to beautiful shady beach with crystal clear water), Woolleys Bay 13km and Sandy Bay 15km (surfing). Deep sea fishing and scuba diving trips to the Poor Knights are available from Tutukaka Harbour 4km.
