A more private deck at the back offers guests the choice of a secluded spa pool or BBQ area. Three bedrooms with adjoining bathrooms allow for a variety of sleeping arrangements.
The lodge boasts top of the line furnishings including a leather lounge suite, 42 inch television, Sky TV and internet. Kayaks are kept at the lodge, and mountain bike hire, fishing trips or horse riding expeditions can be arranged.
Arrowsmith Lodge sleeps 12 with a selection of high quality bunk beds, linen and bedding provided.
Why Bunks?
Because the building was originally the shearers’ quarters, the sleeping areas are not huge. However clever design has resulted in bedrooms that are not only functional, but extremely comfortable. The beds are not your standard bunk beds, being wider than usual and featuring top quality mattresses, linen and bedding. You will be pleasantly surprised by how comfortable these beds are and the adjoining spacious, modern bathrooms feature high quality showers, basins, WCs, heated towel rails and heat lamps.
Lake Heron is renowned for its secluded fishing spots. As the largest of the four lakes that make up the Ashburton Lakes, it’s also a remote and spectacular wildlife area. You may be lucky enough to spot a rare Southern Crested Grebe, one of New Zealand’s endangered birds, or some of the other native birdlife that flock to this area. If birdwatching isn’t a passion, kayaking the lake or walking through the spectacular tussock land will give you that wilderness experience.
There are row boats, kayaks available for your use while staying at Arrowsmith Lodge.
