Lovely location, spacious home. Comfy beds, plenty of towels. We had Christmas with our family and it was great to be all together. Ann the owner was very attentive to our needs. Thanks

The Aspen was a wonderful place to stay for our extended family. Fabulous views of the mountains and lake, within walking distance of town, but in a lovely quiet neighbourhood. The house was very comfortable and clean with everything we needed. Highly recommended.

The house is excellent with great views from every room of Lake Wakatipu and The Remarkables . It is a pleasant 30 minute walk into town via footpaths and then a pretty path through a forest(steep in places). The house was well supplied with bath towels, kitchen equipment and clean. The heated floors and towel rails in the 3 bathrooms were great. However, the courtyard area and the garage were in need of a sweep/ clean . The courtyard was not inviting you to use the bbq. It might help to know that the hot water supply is not unlimited- one day afternoon/ evening after 4 showers (2 teenagers) + washing machine + dishwasher there was no hot water. We assumed that the gas bottles had run out . A call to Sharlene was not satisfactory . After about 2 hours we found that the hot water was back. Sharlene then announced that this was because we had used up the supply and it was necessary to wait for the cylinder to reheat . It would have avoided our angst if she had told us this when we first contacted her. Also the clothes dryer was unusable - needed repairs to the door and was not heating properly. There were no instructions that we could find to operate the oven in the kitchen - symbols were hard to read and were confusing. We managed well without using the oven. The freezer trays/ compartment were broken in the fridge. It is a shame that there were a few hiccups like this. However I would definitely recommend The Aspen - very comfortable, amazing views, great location , very comfortable beds. Robyn Bamber
Response from Owner
Hi Robyn Thank you for your kind comments and feedback. It is always valuable to receive this kind of information and highlights areas where we can improve. It is a shame I did not hear from you during your stay other than your arrival text, as I could have also assisted you with these issues. On your arrival date, I had the gardener attend and spent 7.5 hours which included blowing and sweeping the property so the concerns about the BBQ area being untidy is one I will take up with them directly, thank you. To address your other concerns, I have added a note regarding the electric hot water system to the compendium that is found in the house, explaining it is indeed electric, and needs time to recover once emptied. The clothes dryer door has been ordered, unfortunately has not arrived but there is a second clothes dryer in the garage for guest use, which should have been fully functional. I am not aware of any issue with the dryer not heating but can only assume if the door is not latching correctly it may not heat and operate very well. The oven is new and has universal symbols but I understand if you are unfamiliar with these, they can be confusing. The oven manual is stored in the black flip through folder (along with other manuals for equipment in the house) and stored in the pantry. This is also noted in the compendium, under the Kitchen heading. I will ask Sharlene to look into the issues with the freezer trays as they may need replacement. Thank you again for bringing these items to my attention, I genuinely appreciate your feedback which undoubtedly helps me to enhance the quality of guest services and experiences. I am so pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay and time in Queenstown.
