About this Holiday House

Located 7km from St Arnaud Village (and Lake Rotoiti - Kerr Bay), 50 minutes to Nelson, one hour to Blenheim, 25 minutes to Rainbow Ski field. Ewert Cottage a is a lifestyle property surrounded by farmland and has a lovely rural view from the house. It offers a small and quiet, place if you prefer to be out of the hustle and bustle. However, you are only a short drive from the Village. You will be warm and cozy in Winter with the double glazing, wood burner and a heat pump for heating. All the beds have electric blankets as well. Please note, the single bed is in a room which is a garage conversion, so it is noticeably colder in there during winter. There is a heater available and extra blankets including an electric blanket on the bed. Perfect for Summer! This room also provides space to put skis or outdoor gear whilst not in use. The house has high speed internet (Starlink) and a smart TV. Also, a selection of games/ books and puzzles to pass your time in the evenings or on a rainy day. STRICTLY NO SMOKING INSIDE NO PETS NO PARTIES OR GATHERINGS

Special Amenities

There is a coffee machine for you to brew up that café style morning coffee (please bring your own beans). Water from the kitchen cold water tap is filtered and suitable for drinking. The house has fly screens on all windows and doors which will allow you to keep the doors open on those warm Summer evenings so the breeze will flow through without letting in bugs (St Arnaud does have sandflies. So please make sure you bring insect repellent for your outdoor pursuits). Please note whilst there is plenty of space for young children to roam, they should not do this unsupervised as there is an easily accessible stream running through the property. Boat Parking (in paddock next to house by arrangement).

Special Attractions and Activities Nearby

With a fully equipped kitchen you can choose to have a relaxed night in and cook your own meal or walk up the road to the historic Tophouse Inn for dinner (bookings essential). Also, only a short drive down to St Arnaud village is the Alpine Lodge for dining (bookings also required). St Arnaud is a peaceful alpine village in the Nelson Lakes district. With Lake Rotoiti nearby you can spend time swimming & boating or take advantage of the many walking tracks around the Lake. Nelson Lakes National Park also offers multi day tramps for more adventurous trampers. Te Araroa trail goes right by the house. You can walk out the door and make your way up Beeby's Knob either on foot or mountain bike directly from the house. Or if mountain biking is more your thing there are plenty of local trails. For a bigger mission you could head over to Lyell (about 100km drive) to the start of The Old Ghost Road Trail. https://oldghostroad.org.nz/. And of course, for the Winter activities you have Rainbow Ski Field.

Linen is included in the nightly rate (Sheets & towels). Please strip the beds upon your departure and place the used linen in the laundry.

Ewert Cottage is a self clean rental (it must be left in the same condition as you arrived, all cleaning products are supplied on site). Alternatively you can pay an extra $100 for us to arrange cleaning.

Due to the remote nature of the Village, we kindly ask that guests take their rubbish and recycling with you when you leave where possible.
