About this Holiday House
Start your day with a sauna and swim and end it stargazing in the spa! This house is a wonderful Kiwi beachfront experience. It's perfect for a family, two couples (maybe with a baby/young child or two) or a reunion amongst friends.
History:
This 1945 art deco beauty lies absolute beachfront with perfect views of Kapiti Island. Commissioned as a party pad by a Wellington socialite almost 80 years ago, much of its original charm is still intact. The modern kitchen, lawn and large decking and BBQ area are set for family memories and stellar evening sunsets.
Your holiday:
So many sun drenched spots to enjoy at this house! The ladies will enjoy lounging on the upper gin deck (also the morning yoga deck), while the guys BBQ downstairs. The kids will get lost in the dune building teepees and jumping on the tramp, and nana will doze happily in sunroom.
There are two living areas, a large modern kitchen and plenty of parking. Both bedrooms are large double rooms, although one room has a futon couch available that can be made into a king single bed. We also have two retro camp stretcher beds available for children.
Note that much of the home original as it was built for beachside holidays in 1945. For instance, the tiny green tiled bath tub and stainless steel shower are simple and servicable for a beach holiday - but not modern. There is one toilet upstairs and one downstairs, a large laundry and a downstairs bathroom.
We have a finish sauna, a spa, a trampoline, Kubb, Croquet toys, books, outdoor games and board games as well as all the subscriber TV channels and great WIFI for those wet weather days.
Beach access:
There is a gorgeous meandering private path through the dune to the beach, where you can dig for pipis at low tide and enjoy safe swimming in this shallow swimming beach (tiny waves - very flat water).
The area:
Just a five minute stroll up the beach or road is the playground, main shopping strip for coffees and the Saturday morning market of this cute coastal town. In winter, huddle up in front of the fire, toast marshmallows and watch a movie.
Paraparaumu Golf Club and Kapiti Aero Club are both just a few minutes away by car, as is the local New World, butcher and main shopping strip.
NOTE
This is our family beach house and as such there are some wardrobes in use. There are also food goods in the kitchen, which you are welcome to use it so long as you contribute to the general stock- don’t take advantage of the hospitality. And whilst dogs are welcome, please keep them downstairs at night and outside during the day.
