About this Holiday House

See end of description for Covid cancellation policy. Straight across the road from the beach, Ahipara Beachfront Studio lets you make the best of coastal living. Wake up and check the surf, walk down to the beach for a swim. Low tide exposes sandy bottom rock pools directly out front, some deep enough for swimming Eat outdoors, relax in the hammock chairs, and let the sound of the surf lull you to sleep. Or.....cosy up inside with the blinds down and binge on Netflix to your heart's content. We have ultra fast fibre, so stream away! The studio is the ground floor of a two storey house - completely separate from the first floor, with no internal access. The garage also occupies the ground floor, and is separated from the studio by an internal wall (also no internal access). The garage is used as a storage space only. The 50sqm space is simple and open-plan, with retro block walling, making it cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The bi-fold door can open up half the front wall to let in the sea air, and the deck catches the sun at the front with shelter at the rear of the deck provided by the balcony above. For your comfort and enjoyment: - Air conditioning/Heat pump - 100% cotton linen - 100% cotton towels - King size bed with new Sleepyhead mattress - Futon sofa bed - Beach towels - Non-toxic body wash, handsoap and cleaning products - Selection of books and board games - Ultra fast fibre WiFi - 43 inch flat screen TV with Netflix, TVNZ On Demand, and Neon. In the kitchenette: - Nespresso machine - Milk frother - Electric double element - Bench top mini oven - Toaster - Full size refrigerator and freezer - Selection of teas - French press coffee - Breakfast cereal and milk - Oils, basic condiments, and all basic cooking utensils For guests considering twin share there is a fold down futon sofa bed. The size is slightly smaller than a double bed, with the folding seam running down the middle of the futon from head to toe. Using the sofa bed is not ideal unless you know each other well, as there will be little privacy, with only a roll down bamboo blind to visually separate the two sleeping spaces. Don't forget to let me know if you are wishing to use the sofa bed so I can have it prepared for you. The plumbing is on a macerator system, and when the taps are run or the toilet is flushed you will hear the macerator grinding and the pump running, it's noisier than a regular system. It also means nothing out of the ordinary can be flushed down the toilet, as the macerator is a delicate wee soul! A couple of extra things: Our driveway is really steep, so if you don't feel confident driving up and backing down a steep driveway, or doing a hill start, our place may not be for you (unless you don't mind parking down on the road). If you are bringing a camper, or your car has a body kit or is exceptionally low you will probably not make it up the driveway . We are on solely on tank water out here and Northland is nearly always experiencing water shortages, so water use needs to be frugal. Long showers are not possible. The studio is not suitable for young children, but feel free to enquire if you are coming with a little baby or an older child. Please be aware that upon booking we will ask you to provide identification for all guests, as well as registration of the vehicles which will be on the property. Smoking is permitted but outside only. Strictly no pets, no exceptions sorry. If you are looking for something with a little more space, check out The Beach House Ahipara, which is the top storey. If you are interested in booking the whole property, upstairs and downstairs, with use of the garage, check out The Beach House Ahipara - with Studio. We have many happy memories of the studio, we know you'll love it as much as we do! Follow us on Facey if you would like :-) Covid advice: Please be assured that if you are travelling from within New Zealand, and are not permitted to travel due to a lockdown, we are more than happy to refund your booking in full. Please do note, this is if you are unable, not if you are disinclined (although of course we are not unreasonable). For all other bookings, if you need to cancel once you are within your cancellation period, we always re-list the house, and if it books we will refund you as much of your cancellation amount as possible.

Special Attractions and Activities Nearby

Ahipara is a peaceful, coastal community, and also a giant outdoor playground with a plethora of outdoor activities available. 90 Mile beach is an official highway, so if you have a 4WD vehicle definitely take it for a blast! Don't forget to check out the sand dunes and spectacular scenery around the point from Shipwreck Bay, you might even catch sight of the local herd of wild horses (and don't forget to check the tides). In Ahipara there is a local store with some basic groceries, a takeaway shop, a liquor store, and a gas station. North Drift cafe has good food and is open 7 days, with dinner in the summer. They are licensed. Hot tip: stick to the menu rather than cabinet food. Up the hill at the motel is Stonegrill Restaurant if you feel like some basic pub-style fare with a drink to wash it down. You might meet a few locals up there on a Thursday and Friday night. If you don't feel like spending too much, Bidz takeaways are good. Make sure you ask for the fresh fish of the day. Anything else you might need, such as a laundromat, chemist or full supermarket, can be found in nearby Kaitaia.

Pania Coates
Modern studio which is exactly as its described in the listing. I loved being able to sit on the hammocks and watch the sunsets. The breakfast cereal and milk was a nice additional touch.
Susan Adams
Lovely studio, well designed, with everything needed for a short stay. Loved falling asleep to the sound of the ocean. Beach is directly in front of the studio. The driveway is steep so your car needs enough clearance so it doesn't scrape where the driveway meets the road.
Response from Owner
Thanks for your review, and yes definitely true about the driveway!
