A sunny, peaceful and private hideaway with a beautiful bush and sea view. We had a wonderful 5 nights relaxing, walking on the bush tracks that go past the property, and swimming in the bay. Judith has set up this apartment very thoughtfully and generously so we ended up eating at home enjoying the surroundings rather than going out. I highly recommend this beach stay for those who love the bush, privacy and relaxing in front of the view. Judith is very helpful with ideas of excursions and activities and really cares about her guests having a great time.

I stayed with my two children, aged 9 and 11 years in January 2015 and we all had the most amazing time. The apartment was lovely and light and clean. It is just a short bush walk to an idyllic little bay where we all swam, snorkelled and sup-boarded. The apartment is completely private from the main house yet Judith was extremely helpful throughout our stay and was there if anything was needed.
I would highly recommend staying here, it is a little piece of paradise and the kids still often talk about it and want to return. Thank you very much Judith for providing such a fantastic get-away from the hustle and bustle of city living!

I'm loath to praise to highly lest this beautiful homestay is fully booked next time we revisit! A weekend of bliss in a unique and special setting. The accommodation has a bright and fresh touch that reflects and enhances the environment, inviting it in through ceiling to floor glass. The views over indigenous bush to the ocean provide room to breath in total privacy. A short walk to the beach through the bush and various walkways brings one closer to the multitude of birds with the Tuis providing gurgling accompaniment.
Many thanks Judith.

We just wanted to say how much we enjoyed our stay on Waiheke.

The description on the website of your accommodation was everything as promised.

We enjoyed having our own private beach and exploring the many walkways close by.

Having the bus so handy or being able to walk into Oneroa was great

Thanks very much

We planned to stay only a week, but loved Hekerua Beachstay so much we stayed much longer. What I think is really special about this place is that you feel like you are deep in the bush and intimate with nature. You can listen to the tuis and moreporks here. Gaze out on sailboats cruising across Hauraki Gulf from bed. Relax, and escape while still being close to town. The direction of the house lets in the sun and the decor is warm, colorful and tasteful - redolent of the south Pacific. Essentially, we had a lovely and unforgettable time at Hekerua and were well looked after by Judith as a host. Thanks so much for a taste of paradise. ~ Jesse and Lina

The stunning bush at your fingertips, the native birds provide music all day and the moropoko entertain you in the evenings. The walk to the bay below is majestic then theres the bay itself. I was lucky to have this all to myself during my stay and I thought how blessed I was. Judith the host was lovely you have all the privacy to want but if you need anything she is there to assist. Thank you Judith for your kindness. I hope to be back soon.

Just got home from this magical spot last night and had to comment on what a great stay we had at Hekerua Beach stay. The apartment is modern and bright with a fantastic view from the huge window in the bedroom. Go to bed watching the stars and wake up to a tropical water view in the morning. A haven for anyone wanting peace and quiet. The most noise you will experience here is the sound of the tui and the fantails singing in the trees. Judith is a lovely helpful lady and we will look forward to visiting again.

Hekerua Beachstay on Waiheke Island is a wonderful place to chill out from the hustle and bustle of the modern world. The one bedroom self contained apartment is the lower level of a house which is set amongst native New Zealand bush, you will see and hear native bird life such as Tui, Wood Pigeon, (kereru) and at night Morepork (Ruru)

The apartment is light and airy, the furnishings are comfortable and modern. I loved the quirky old wooden door, which is used as the dinning table. The bedroom has a queen sized bed and is hung with a mosquito netting which gives it a romantic feeling but what really makes the room is the huge picture window. As you relax in bed after a good nights sleep you can pull back the curtains and absorb the view down the bush covered valley to Hukerua Bay, the Waitamata Harbour and beyond to the Coromandel Ranges. You will not want to get out of bed.

The kitchen area is quite compact, there is a two burner hot plate, a grill oven, the fridge is slightly bigger than a hotel room fridge. We stayed here for a week and were able to create some wonderful meals in this kitchen and using the BBQ, which is outside on the deck.

The deck has a table and chairs so you can enjoy eating outdoors or maybe having that evening glass of wine while watching the Fantails zipping about in the trees.

The bathroom has a shower with great water pressure you do need to be considerate of water use as all of Waiheke is on water tanks.

Judith, the owner, will advise you on any one of the many bush and ocean walks that can be taken. The first would be the walk through the bush from your apartment to Hukerua Bay and the crystal clear ocean waters. Safe for swimming.
Or you could walk to the shopping centre of Oneroa that is a 20 -30 min stroll, where there are some excellent cafes. Judith is a wonderful host and has many suggestions of things to do and see as well as which are the best cafe's and restaurants to try.

Getting around on Waiheke Island is possible by using the local bus service, which runs in conjunction with the ferries back to Auckland, but if you want more freedom it would be worth renting a car or taking your car over on the car ferry. Hekrerua Beachstay is right on a bus route (#2) so very easy to get from the ferry.

I would highly recommend Hekerua Beachstay to everyone; the apartment has everything needed for a restful getaway or a longer stay at a very affordable room rate. Thanks Judith we will return

I'm a city girl with very busy lifestyle, as much as I love it, I just need to get away from it every now and then. I found Hekerua Beachstay by surprise on the internet, and it's a place I would call it "simply nice". I arrived with the sound of the ocean and birds singing. I love the private walkway through the bush to this private little beach. I absolutely love the privacy and the connection with the nature when you are literally surrounded by a little forest. It's a great way to get your energy and strength back, kinda theraputic acturally. I went on my own, but still affordable. It's quite a handy location, you don't want to be too close to the town and the main road anyway, guess it's the whole point. I only just noticed the puzzle of a beautiful painting on the last night of my stay, I couldn't complete it all, only did the frame and the sky. Hopefully one of the future guests will complete it, and please leave your message here and let us know. :-) It was lovely.
Thanks
