My stay was extremely enjoyable. I found everything i wanted in this accommodation and more for the price. This is one of the most fantastic accommodations right next to the heart of the city. The CBD is walking distance. I could always retire at night in this cozy cottage and have a good quality night sleep.

Baytree cottage refreshed my nostalgia. It is a wonderful place designed in old fashioned architecture. A highly recommended place for anyone who wants to have a true New Zealand Experience.

Looked forward to staying here however the illusion was shattered upon opening the front door to be greeted by an overwhelming smell of mustiness and mould. There was mould evident in the shower cabinet. Despite opening up all the windows and doors the smell persisted during our stay. It became so unbearable we cut our visit short. Some doors did not shut properly or remain open or shut as needed. . The comment from a previous guest regarding a bedroom doubling as the laundry is not an exaggeration - the bed is separated from the laundry area with a wicker screen. Mitigating factors: great location and quiet. Can't recommend this property in its current state, for the tariff charged it needs upgrading.

there is no mustiness or mould in the cottage..it is used very often and is cleaned so thoroughly you wouldn't believe it. I dont understand why this family were so bitter...they were only two adults and two children and had a lovely queen bedroom, a cute single room with feather down quilt and sure the third bedroom upstairs is for a child usually and and has a partition..but is still has got carpet on the floor, and windows overlooking the garden and a good quality single bed and a side dresser and storage space. There is another queen bedroom downstairs which the couple chose not to use. Maybe they just want a hotel room not a Ponsonby cottage with polished floors, a beautiful large lounge with 42" Sony SKY, free WiFi, parking directly outside and sun all day.

We stayed at Baytree Cottage for two months when we first arrived in New Zealand. It's in a great location right in the heart of Ponsonby, and Meg is a great host. The house is an old character bungalow and not modern, but it is well equipped for a family, with a dishwasher, washer/dryer, wifi and television with lots of channels. There is a cute garden area in the front. The living areas are very nice and there is plenty of space. We weren't always able to park right outside but we never had to walk too far. We stayed during the coldest part of the year and I can't say the house was very warm (quite typical for houses in New Zealand!), but it was well equipped with heaters and electric blankets so we were still comfortable.

We stayed at Baytree Cottage at the end of our trip in with our 2 small children in New Zealand. We really liked this place. It is old, but that is charming. It has everything you need and it is not expensive. The location is good, located on quite a quit road. Shops, restaurants, take aways and busstop nearby, easy parking in front of the house. The house has a lovely porch in front.
Meg is a really nice and sweet lady who made us feel at home.
We would defenitely recommend this place.

We stayed here over a week. I grew up in Freemans Bay in an old villa, so I knew what to expect. The lack of off street parking was not a problem at all. The street is pretty quiet and there were no dogs barking. Free wifi was very handy for business. All the amenities were adequate. Linen and towels included. Two points I would like to mention which can be sorted easily. There was no spatula and the other was the drier did not work. The lint pocket was full which may have meant it had not been empty for quite awhile by other tenants and may have shorted out the machine. Overall though, great location, good amenities, and close to Ponsonby.

Baytree Cottage is fantastic, very charming and situated in a great area! We spent our last three nights in New Zealand in the Baytree Cottage and we could have stayed much longer.....!!!! Ponsonby is great with a lot of nice cafes and shops. We walked to town, it is very close. We are a family of four and the kids enjoyed their own room. Everything worked perfect and the cottage was very clean. We felt very welcomed, everything was there!
We highly recommend it to everyone and we hope to come around again soon:-)!

We booked this property for 1 week in November but could only manage 1 night! It certainly has not been refurbished anytime recently & there were cobwebs on the ceilings in most rooms & kitchen cupboards. Maybe they were the part of 'the authentic atmosphere' they talk of. Doors creak & the door hangers fell off when putting a towel on! We did not see any 'quality linen' either just two single beds, one being in the laundry room. The cooker had buttons missing too! How lovely & quaint?!

the cottage is delightful..sure everything is not state of the art but it is a 104 year old cottage and yes, that is part of its charm...everything works extremely well and I have had no complaints til this overtired Englishman found fault with every detail....there are no cobwebs..the towel hook on the bathroom door must have been swung on...the linen is 400 thread and more, and pure cotton...the single bed in not in the laundry...he is exaggerating everything to make it sound horrible.. I am very hurt...cannot he see the positive things in the cottage...he didn't mention these.. and the location and the quietness and the convenience of everything...Meg Wilson

We've just returned from a fabulous weekend away in Auckland. Baytree Cottage is fantastic and we would highly recommend it to couples/friends/families alike.

We are a family of 6 and not only was Baytree gorgeous, it is well appointed and is close to the city centre (we walked in one day), with bus stops at the top of the street and lots of yummy cafes too. A nice little reserve up the road was great for the kids too.

We will definately be staying again!

STAY HERE, STAY HERE, STAY HERE!! This house had everything we needed. It was a very short walk to Ponsonby Rd at one end of the street or Richmond Rd at the other end of the street. Central to everything and very easy to find. Close to the city and a short drive over the bridge to north side of the city. We didn't hear boo out of our host Meg until the last day when she came to say hello and see how our stay in Auckland was. We stayed with 3 children - 2 not school age and 1 teenager. The bedroom downstairs was perfect for the teenager. MUCH cheaper than staying in a motel, quiet, and with everything you need. Supermarket close by also. Would definitely stay again, and am recommending this house to friends also.

STAY HERE!!! You won't regret staying at Baytree Cottage. Location is fantastic ie very short walk to Ponsonby Rd and Richmond Rd, shops, coffee shops, pubs, hairdressers, clothes shops, supermarkets etc. Everything you could need is close by whether you walk or drive. The house has all you could want and more. We stayed with 3 children including a teenager. So the bedroom downstairs was perfect for him. Meg was a lovely lady who we didn't see until the very last day, and she only came to say hello and see how our stay was. Lot's of linen, tv channels, and charm. MUCH cheaper than a motel especially if there are a few of you. DON'T BOTHER LOOKING ANYWHERE ELSE, THIS IS THE PLACE TO STAY!!
