Okarito is one of those "magic places". Surrounded by rainforest and National Park, wetlands and Okarito lagoon and the Tasman Sea - you are immersed in nature yet in a a small community. Summit Lodge is run by Paula & Swade of Okarito Boat EcoTours, They are happy to help you with your plans and can include packages for the Okarito Boat EcoTour, photography workshops or charters or just help you find your own way around during your stay. There are some beautiful local walks and just 25 minutes drive into the Glaciers and Franz Josef and less than an hour to Fox Glacier and Lake Matheson.

A lovely warm and cosy house, great kitchen, great fireplace, comfy beds, kind hosts, lots of birdsong all around, we loved it here.

Had a great stay for 3 nights, plan on coming back in the New Year if I can make it. Great service from Paula and Swade as usual. The house is comfy and great for all our needs. Would have liked internet service but did survive without it and no TV, forced us to relax which is just what we needed. A giant table and a pair of giant chairs that need to be seen to be believed. Had another great boat trip with Okarito Boat Tours. Overall a fantastic place to stay and hang out.

We absolutely loved our stay at Summit Lodge! The house is very spacious and comfortable with great beds, linens, and a well equipped kitchen. Also, the location and friendliness of the village is extra special!! Hope to return someday. Thanks, Paula and Swade!
