We were at first disappointed with the “free continental breakfast” which consisted of out of date cereals previously opened and -at least 4mths over best before date including one with the best before date deliberately crossed out with black marker pen, the yoghurt was 10days over best before date, the spreads had all been used by previous guests which was unappealing to say the least and all the jars were sticky. The “farm fresh eggs” were in fact store bought cage eggs, 2 each for the entire stay and the bread was several part loaves in the freezer. We had expected a bit more attention to detail given that this is an advertised extra included in our Tarif. We dined in Geraldine. The accomodatoin itself had all the equipment we required, the kitchen did require some cleaning before use. Outside the grounds needed TLC, tall weeds covered half the in ground trampoline. the spa did not work so we had to use the one at our hosts home which was not hardwired and felt unsafe with the electrical cable next to the step to enter and exit the water, broken badminton net and racquets were disappointing and a little insulting given the tariff. We have young children and with piles of timber with exposed nails leaning against the unit it did not feel safe leaving them to play without being close to them at all times. Our hosts were friendly, however we did struggle with lack of privacy as other groups of people were shown through our area even looking into the unit as we dined, and joining in our family activities, this meant that it was not always very relaxing. The activities were fun, quad biking, badminton, toasting marshmallows around the camp fire, rifle shooting and kayaking were all free of charge. We would really encourage the hosts to revisit the breakfast options (make it farm like, play to your strengths and use local produce, fresh loaf of bread, a tub of natural yoghurt, freash spreads each new group of guests - this could be easily done with some small refillable jars, actual free range eggs, and provide enough breakfast for the number of people and days, or add more daily) if this is going to continue to be offered as a continental breakfast. Tidy the section so that it is safe and remove all broken equipment.
Response from Owner
Thanks for the comprehensive feedback Angela & Darryl. Firstly great that everyone enjoyed the fun activities like Quad biking, Badminton (Two brand new rackets and feathered shuttles were supplied), toasting marshmallows around the camp fire, Rifle shooting and Kayaking. We wanted to make things easy for people to go on holiday so we supply unlimited Cereals, Milk, Eggs, yoghurts and Breads as required. (Farm fresh Eggs are sourced locally free range in trays of 30,but re-packaged into dozen packs for your convenience. 1) Longer grass -We have since made sure all the long grass around the edges is cleared. 2) Spa's - We decided it wasn't justified having two spa's going, but can assure you the spa is protected by the latest RCD's,and therefore completely safe. We will tidy this up upon your recommendation also. 3) We will be removing the timber, after stage two of the new decking. We see a few area's we can sharpen up on so appreciate your feedback. If you are ever able to come down again, even for a day trip, i'd love to take you around the Limestone Wave, Caves & Mushroom Rocks as everyone will love that. Uncle Dave

Thank You for a wonderful stay at Wellspring Farm, it was the highlight of our NZ Vacation. Recieved by postcard from Singapore

David went out of his way to make us feel at home. We had a great picnic dinner the first night and then got to help herd the deer into the corral. Judy got to hold a fawn for a few minutes while it got a ride in the van to the corral to catch up with its mother. A well-located base for a variety of activities.
