Having Abby the house cat was an extra bonus as we missed out cats while away and Abby has a lovely nature. The well-equipped kitchen made meal preparation a breeze, and the open layout allowed for seamless socializing. Immaculately landscaped, it provided a serene backdrop for our morning coffees and evening strolls. The cottage was very cute and suited our needs. The layout was quirky but quite useable. We enjoyed our stay very much.

We could stay here forever. Maitai Cottage is a wonderful property superbly looked after by the owner. The cottage itself is kitted out with everything you could possibly need, dishwasher, washing machine, loads of glasses, cutlery, crockery, barbecue etc, a large fridge freezer and tons of cupboard and storage space. The cottage was also spotlessly clean. The furniture is comfortable, the bed superbly comfortable- very hard to leave - and the courtyard for morning sun and verandah for afternoon and evening sun are both real treats. The front and back gardens are lovely with fruit and veg you can help yourself to! The location of Maitai is also good, a short drive or walk by the Maitai River into town, and right on the doorstep is the path to the centre of New Zealand! Nelson is a lovely compact city with many good coffee shops, bars and restaurants. And finally, if you meet your host Graeme, well he is just a lovely man and very accommodating. Thank you Graeme. The neighbours Val and Pete are a bit of an unexpected bonus. Pete helped us with a satnav problem. Thank you Pete! Abbey le chat adds to the home from home feeling. After all what home is complete without a puss curled up on your lap? We could just stay here forever and if we are in Nelson again we will certainly try to stay again in Maitai Cottage.
