This is nicest and most cost-effective B&B stay I’ve ever had. The beautiful clean design (Japanese touches), furniture and tasteful decorations complement a well-appointed kitchen and super comfortable bathroom. A sustainability theme runs throughout – solar panels, efficient heating and insulation, recycling and composting. Catherine is super organised and a generous and accommodating host. She enabled me to recharge my Electric Vehicle while staying over the 4 nights. I would recommend this for any couple and recommend staying extra nights to explore the local walks and eco-tours for bird watching, photography and local history. 5 stars from me.

Thank you Henrik for your very kind review, and for acknowledging the sustainability theme of Le Bach. Catherine

Delightful home away from home; well appointed kitchen and living area, tasteful décor, light, bright, and warm! Great base from which to explore the area. Would stay here again.

Well set up accommodation - the main door to the accommodation is off a large entrance area which provies extra storage if required. - Catherine was happy for us to leave our bikes there. Catherine was very welcoming with good local knowledge. The property was modern, well equipped and very clean . The beach was easy to access and less than a minutes walk. Yes the Japanese stairs are quite steep but as long as you are reasonably agile they are not a problem. Because we are quite tall the low ceiling in the bedroom area meant we were not able to stand up straight in the bedroom. OK for us but might bother other people. The Okarito area is really lovely with a west coast beach, a wonderful lagoon to explore ( we hired kayaks), nice walks and on a clear day beautiful views to the alps.

Thank you Alison for your kind review. I am glad you enjoyed Okarito and staying at Le Bach. As for the low ceiling, I know what you mean. I don't know if it is a design fault or because it is on the mezzanine (and a minimum height is required for that floor above the ground). The bed is in the middle, so indeed, you cannot stand up straight except when you arrive at the top of the Japanese stairs. I am glad to hear it was still ok for you, and I hope it does not bother too many people. I however appreciate your feedback on that point. Catherine
