Beautiful peaceful setting. Comfortable accomodation. Very friendly and generous hosts. Loved the supply of home baking which added to a very restful enjoyable long weekend. Can’t wait to be able to stay again.

What a beautiful location with such nice hosts. We have almost always stayed in holiday flats when travelling for years and Birdcove was the most beautiful and perfect holiday flat we have ever had. All the descriptions and photos are correct. No, not quite: the rooms are even more beautiful. Very tastefully and lovingly furnished And then the location: a fantastic view of the sea. But only at high tide. Swimming is not possible at low tide. No cars, just the sea, seagulls, cormorants and the occasional splashing of fish. Beautiful excursions possible. Access to Tasman NP and Farewell Spit in less than 1 hour. The n town is Takaka with supermarket, ATM and small shops and cafés. Birdcove is definitely a strong recommendation. It would be a serious mistake to holiday in Golden Bay without staying here. A very warm thank you to Julie and Trish for lovely days at Birdgrove.

Great location for exploring Golden Bay. 8 mins drive to the Mussel Inn or Takaka village. Lovely, thoughtful hosts. Relax on the outdoor loungers watching the tide come and go or enjoy the beautiful sites of Golden Bay e.g., Farewell Spit tours, Wharariki, Salisbury Falls & Langford Store, Anatoki Salmon fish & eat, Fairholme Homestead Gallery, Tata beach, Totaranui & Inlet walk to Awaroa Lodge for lunch, the best coffee at Wholemeal Cafe, Stone Arrow jewellery, Estuary Arts.
